There is huge population of non-resident Indian.  A non-resident Indian is also called NRI.  They are Indian Citizen holding Indian passport, but migrated to another country.  In other words, they are expatriate Indian either working in foreign country or living with their spouses.

World-wide about 30 million Indian or desi are living aboard as NRI or PIO.  PIO (person of Indian origin).

Biggest NRI population is in United Arab Emirates – estimated to be around 14 lakhs (1.4 millions) with another million or so in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Bahrain, and other gulf countries.

A very number of NRI – Non Resident Indians are working in Middle East countries – such as Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, United Arab Emirates, and Oman.  A big population of Indians are living in these countries.  As per an estimate, about 6 Millions Indians are residing at 6 GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) states.  Most of these Indians are from Kerala and to some extend from Andhra Pradesh. 

Most of the people working in the GCC are labor class.  They make huge remit of foreign exchange in billion of US Dollars annually.
