It is no secret that everybody loves hardwood flooring.  They immediately add a touch of class that no other flooring can come close to.  Of all the types of flooring you can choose from, be it engineered, floating or standard, oak hardwood floors continue to be the most popular choice for people.

Warmth

One of the main reasons oak hardwood floors are so popular is because of the color of the wood and how it naturally seems to warm up a room.  While some of the other types of wood will look a little cheap or maybe too rich, oak seems to fit in with just about anything.  Regardless of the type of furniture you have or how old or new the house is, oak just seems to belong.

Cost of Oak Hardwoods

With oak being so popular, you are going to have a large selection to pick from.  What this means for the average buyer is competitive pricing.  With everyone looking for the same thing, every store around is going to have to stock it.  Of course, if it is too expensive, it is going to do nothing more than sit on the shelves so everyone has to outdo each other and come up with a price that is attractive and will allow it to move off out of the store.

Types of Oak Hardwoods

One of the other attractions of oak hardwood floors is that it comes in various different types. If you are doing this yourself, you may want to consider one of the finished products that are on the market. These are often referred to as engineered hardwood floors. These types of flooring have already been finished and installing them is all it takes.

Engineered Oak Hardwoods

Of all the engineered styles of flooring, floating hardwood floors are among the leaders.  There several reasons why, but cost and ease of installation lead the way.  This type of flooring presents very little in the way of prep and can be dropped on top of just about any surface that you are going to run into.  This again means less work for you as the need to drop a sub floor does not exist.

Durability and Resilliance

Another benefit of this style of flooring is how well it holds up to extreme environments.  When a standard floor is exposed to moisture it will expand, when it is exposed to dry conditions it will shrink.  You can imagine how a constantly changing atmosphere can destroy a floor because of all of this movement.  With a floating hardwood floor, it is constructed in a way that the wood can easily shift during this without causing damage.  If cared for properly, your floors will probably out live you.

Bang for Your Buck

Last but not least, oak hardwood floors are going to give you quality for your money.  They are going to cost you less money than something like cherry wood and a little more than maple, but when it comes to durability and stability, oak lasts with the best of them.  It is adaptable to various conditions, has a rich look and is affordable.  What’s not to like?
