Obama Aide Fires Back At Commentator Over Disputed Remark About A Chinese Dictator: CNN

The title of a recently released CNN article is "Obama aide fires back at Beck over Mao comments".

Here's what the aide, Obama communications director Anita Dunn said that sparked the uproar: "The Mao quote is something (that) I picked up from the late Republican strategist Lee Atwater in the 1980s SO I HOPE I DON'T GET MY PROGRESSIVE FRIENDS MAD AT ME". Well, Mao, along with Hitler, Lenin and Stalin were 4 of the world's most ruthless dictators of the 20th century, so it's indeed a mystery why Dunn took that quote. Also, why did she have to associate with Lee Atwater, someone associated with racists such as Strom Thurmond, a blatant racist, who used derogatory language such as "nigger" with regularity almost every day? How can people possibly not be angry about this?

As for Beck lashing out at her, Dunn said: "The use of the phrase "favorite political philosphers" was intended to be irony, BUT CLEARLY, THE EFFORT FELL FLAT - at least with a certain Fox commentator whose sense of irony may be missing". Yes it did, because Mao Zedong is one of the worst tyrants to have ever lived. This is indeed alarming. This comment/remark is flippant and above all, insensitive, not ironic.

Dunn allegedly said: "The third lesson and tip actually comes from two of my favorite philosophers - Mao Zedong and MOTHER THERESA - not often coupled with each other - BUT THE TWO PEOPLE I TURN TO MOST to basically deliver a simple point - which is 'you're going to make choices; you're going to challenge; you're going to saay why not; you're going to figure out how to do things that have never been done before", but using Mao as an example is clearly inappropriate. How can these two people possibly be grouped together? Mother Theresa was the definition of compassion while Mao was exactly the opposite, killing millions during his "Power Purge" in the Cultural Revolution.

Beck immediately pounced: "It's INSANITY. This is HER HERO'S work". Boy and we thought the Van Jones' saga would be the last of Obama or ex-Obama officials making ridiculous comments. "She thinks of this man's work ALL THE TIME" which should be inconceivable, but there we have it. "It would be like me saying to you ' You know who my favorite philosopher is? Adolf Hitler'. Have you read Mein Kampf?" Yes, Hitler had a philosophy too, to exterminate 2/3 of the world.

Of course, Dunn will try to defend herself and there will be all these comparisons to what other people have said, but the bottom line is: she is admiring a dictator and a tyrant which means that OBAMA is somewhat like Mao which is RIDICULOUS. In light of recent events, Mr. Obama should take a SERIOUS lookat who is in his inner circle because this comes not long after the Van Jones saga and if there are many more incidents like this, Obama's popularity will surely take a hit because the president depends heavily on his advisers so what are we supposed to think when we hear about or read Van Jones or Anita Dunn saying the ludicrous things that they have said?
