odi match between india and australia
odi match between india and australia

After watching t20 cricket for much long time , now watching one day international cricket is something boring. When the teams are of equal strengths the game is somewhat interesting but when they are not so the match is uninteresting. Already there is an Indian Premier League(IPL) next year we will see another t20 league organised by ECB called as English Premier League(EPL) and then there is rumour that Southern Premier League involving South Africa, Australia and New Zealand. To know more about it go to southern premier league

.Other than this you have our world T20 for every two years not to neglect the champions T20 league to be conducted every year for this year onwards.

On the whole we will be having nearly 100 days of T20 cricket. T20 cricket as given new life to cricket is what most cricketer think but this would probably lead to the decline of ODI and test cricket. In my view test cricket will survive because most cricketers think that they become a good cricketers only if they crack test cricket.

But what about ODIs?

Well i dont say that ODI cricket will be completely washed away. It will stay for ever but with some changes ....

here are those few changes which where made in this format :

  • Earlier odi cricket was played with teams having 60 overs each then it was changed to 50 overs
  • the red ball changed as white colored ball
  • a 15-overs feilding restriction was introduced
  • this was later changed to 20 overs and was split into three segments called powerplays
  • a rule called super substitute came but didnt do any favour to the game so it was scrapped
  • another change was made in the powerplays

well now....the changes i am going to tell now will happen not now but at some point of time ......

combine test and t20 to get a new ODI format....

With teams having two innings of 20 overs. 20 overs in first innings then the next team plays 20 overs... Again 20 overs for each team in the next innings ... with follow on ball change etc rules of test cricket ...this will increase the excitement in ODIs with average scores in match increasing upto 700 in 80 overs .....
