Great Work from Home Sites

First let me say that I can't vouch for the actual legitimacy of any of these sites other than what they appear to be to me. Please use caution and follow these tips:

  • Never give your bank account info for direct deposit.
  • Be leary of how much personal information you give out and to whom.
  • Check out the business name with the Better Business Bureau for online businesses.

Is it worth it to work from home?

Mom's like me are not the only ones who need to work from home. Many are disabled and getting too and from work is too much on them physically and or mentally. Some people are taking care of someone other than children that depend on them, such as an elderly parent or relative. Others are business minded individuals who are tired of answering to a boss who knows less than you do but makes more money all the same. Some of us just want to have something to call our own.

No matter what way you look at it, the work from home industry is bigger than its ever been! With that in mind so are the amount of scams out there. You only need to type in "work from home" and you will be inundated with what seems like an eternal query string to choose from. Where do you start? How do you know what is and what isn't legitimate? For me I just came to the conclusion that in order for my work to be something I felt good about, it had to be my own. So I started with HubPages and I'm working on starting my own website with the goal of helping out others like myself.

I hope that this site will help others to find what they are looking for. Hopefully it will cut down on the wasted time looking for something legitimate. My advice to you is to just BE CAREFULL! It's unfortunate that there are more people out there ready to take advantage of you than actually help you. I don't understand it myself, I mean typically most people who need to work from home are all ready financially destitute why anyone would want to make there situation any worse is beyond me. Vultures I tell ya! So keep your eyes and ears wide open and if it sounds too good to be true......well you know the rest.

Keywords that should trigger a possible scam to you:

  • "Turn you computer into a money making machine!"
  • "Serious Entrepreneurs needed"
  • "Earn (some insane amount of money) every single month!"
  • "Make your dreams come true!"
  • "If you can read this you can do this!" (my personal favorite).

On the upside there are advantages of working from home such as:

  • Save on gas (and oh what a savings that can be right now!)
  • Save on money for new clothes.
  • Save on dry cleaning.
  • Save on car maintenance & mileage.
  • Save on Dr visit costs. Since you won't get sick as often working around all those people who come to work sick.
  • Save on your mental health and the cost associated with it, dealing with co-workers and supervisors that make you CRAZY!
  • For stay at home Moms/Dad's spend more quality time with your kids and be more aware of what is going on in their lives.
  • Go on vacation when you want not when the boss says you can or until you've accrued enough "vacation time".

Costa Blanca,

I have nothing but great respect for Stay at Home Dads, however I try to stick with what I know, and I know about being a Stay at Home Mom. BUT just because these sites are recommended for Mom they are just as well suited for Dads. So in your honor I'm changing my hub name to include Dad's on this hub. Thanks! Have a great day!

There are many things you can do to promote your site like blogging and syndication. You have to definelty utilize social media! Grow your networks by joining myspace, Linked In, Facebook, etc. I am no genius at this, but it is what works for me. Make sure you submit your website to the search engines regularly.
