Can Green Organic Loose Tea Successfully Prevent Hay Fever?

The aim of this article is to educate readers on the utilizing natural ways of prevention and cure of allergy symptoms as opposed to taking western medicines which may result in other side-effects developing. The way is green organic loose tea.

In recent years, green tea has been said to be effective in preventing hay fever. A type of polyhenol in green tea, called catechin is effective in reducing allergies. This active ingredient is prone to adjusting excessive histamine, which causes allergy symptoms. It is a characteristic of catechin to be absorbed quickly and to act on protecting the skin and mucous membranes.

The study conducted by Shizuoka University in Japan found a huge reduction in hay fever allergies on the model rats by 50 % twenty four hours after drinking teas such as green tea, oolong tea and black tea. During another study, rhinitis allergic patients were made to consume 60 mg of green tea catechin ( a cup of regular green tea contains from 50mg to 150 mg of catechin) a day and symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose and stuffy nose were compared, before and after the ingestion. The reports from the medical examination showed 60% of improved, 20 % of slightly improved and 20% of no change.

Unlike conventional antihistamines that often have side effects of narcotics, green tea can be taken safely and comfortably. However, to get the desired effects of catechin, it is believed that you need to drink about 2 liters(10 cups) of green tea per day!! Having said that, it is ideal to drink regularly rather than drinking large amounts of green tea at once, for instance, you can drink a cup of green tea every three hours.

In general, loose tea will contain more catechin than tea that come in bags. However, you can get almost as much catechin by pushing the tea bag underwater and giving it a good squeeze before taking it out of the cup. Also, the younger the leaves are, the more catechin they contain. Thus, in order to boost the benefits of catechin in green tea, young loose teasuch as "first leaves" sencha is more preferable to Bancha which leaves are older.

Finally, if you want to maximize the healthy benefits of catechin, you should go for green organic loose tea as organic tea is purest and free from chemicals that kill active ingredients including catechin.Green tea, however, is a traditional medicine, effects will not be visible quickly. Therefore, it is very important to drink it consistently. You may use other types of allergy preventions in conjunction with regular intakes of green tea if you need additional treatments.
