Is it possible to have a well-organized purse?
65I have always been on the look out for the perfect organizer purse. It seems that no matter what purse I found there were never enough pockets. Or they where simply inconvenient to get to. I found myself constantly changing to a different purse in an attempt for another chance to stay organized.
I think the two things that I reach for most in my purse are my keys and my phone. You know the story. Your phone rings. You fumble around in your bag for the cool chunk of metal hoping you have nothing sharp floating around in there. The end result is that by the time you find it, pull it out the call has gone to voice mail.
Then there are the keys. You're at your front door trying to get in. The door is locked and your hands are full. There you go again...reaching into the deep abyss. You finally give up. You set everything on the ground completely annoyed. You balance yourself on one leg while resting your bag on your bent knee.
5 quick tips on how to organize your purse
- Dig out that collection of old cosmetic bags. Use them to organize the things in your purse.
- Clean your purse out once a week. Get ride of the receipts and drop your loss change in a change jar.
- Make a daily check of what is in the bag. Remove the things you will not need for the day.
- Ditch the big bag. The bigger the purse the more stuff you will collect.
- Buy a purse with lots of pockets.
Buying a purse with lots of pockets has been my favorite solution. A place for your keys, your cell phone your pen and other things is handy when you need to find these things.
Using cosmetic bags to organize your purse works really well if you are carrying a purse that only has a couple of pockets. I especially like to use them with tote bags.
Cleaning out your purse once a week is important for eliminating the trash and finding the receipts that need to be filed away.
If your are like me you probably grab things through out the week that you think you might need and shove it in your purse. Doing a daily check in your purse for these kinds of things will keep you from toting around a heavy bag.
Try to buy medium size purses. The bigger our bags the more stuff we think we can take with us on the way out the door.

I guess I hadn’t thought of that. But I know what you mean. I have purses with lots of pockets that don’t help much.
The organizer purse that I found has specific types of pockets. For example, just inside my purse on the left are 3 pockets. My cell phone occupies one because it is just the right size, pen in another and my glasses in its own little pocket as well. On the left side are also 3 pockets. One is a zippered pocket so make-up goes in that one, and so on. With the shape of the purse I know which side is left and right.

When I buy a purse with a lot of pockets I get confessed and can't find anythiing. I can't remember what I put in each pocket.
