If you opt not to upgrade your iTouch and purchase applications from Apple, you can also utilize the growing number of over the web applications for the device. Before Apple offered applications for download and installation, developers began creating over the web applications for use via the WiFi network. As long as you are connected a wireless network, you can take advantage of such applications.

Finding working over the web applications can be hard to do. Since many of them are based on a solid wireless connection and bandwidth from the given web site, you may not have access to that particular application when you want to use it. So, tracking down over the web applications can be tricky since they may change over the term of use due to factors outside your control.

Apple's web site provides a list of third party over the web applications with links that you can try out. They provide a brief summary of what the application does, where it is hosted and how to get there. Once you put in the address in Safari on the iTouch, you can access the application and as long as you are connected to WiFi, you can continue using it. Once you are outside the range of the wireless network, you will no longer have access to the application.

You can also use a search engine to track down over the web applications that are not provided by Apple's web site. By doing a quick search, you can track down hundreds of applications that may work for you. Over the web applications require some patience, some trial and error and some time to track down, work with and find ones that work.

If tracking down over the web applications proves difficult for you, investing in Apple's applications may be the way to go. By seeing what is out there, you can decide if investing in over the web applications is right for you. Once you find applications that work, you can bookmark them for future use and keep searching for more that you enjoy.
