The Most Over Rated Movies of All Time

These are not bad movies, just over rated

Through out history, there have always been those seemingly could be great movies, that are praised too much for what they could have been. There are also many movies that were later praised that should never have been. One of the biggest movies that always come to my head as being over rated is Finding Neverland. I watched the movie, hoping it would be an entertaining movie. It was not. There was nothing really magical about the story, nor were any performances incredible. I frankly never cared about Peter Pan and this movie did nothing to make me care more. I constantly here critics praise this for what a heartwarming and very well done movie this was. I felt none of that. (I give it 1.5 out of 4).

Another over rated movie that has come out recently is Hotel Rwanda. I was expecting a high paced war movie with good melodramatic music. Instead I was left with Gary Busey and Don Cheadle (with a foreign accent). I never cared about any of the characters and I didn't really learn a lot. The movie dumbed down some things but hyped up the unimportant ones. I would not even consider this a good movie (I give it 2 out of 4).

Amelie: A non English movie that was supposed to be "The Best Movie." Umm...why? Ok, so it is a little different, and it was stylized well. But, that doesn't make it a great movie. Granted, I have only seen this movie once, but that was enough. It was kind of cute at times, but I didn't see how it was better than Made in Manhattan. FYI: The lead was kind of annoying to me. I give it 2 out of 4 stars.

Musicals are typically entertaining. Singing in the rain is different. I tried very hard to get into it. I couldn't. The colors were beautiful the acting was ok, but to me it was just a bore. The easiest way to describe it is yes, i am sure it was great for the time, but has not stood the test of time well.

The final movie I proclaim as over rated is Gone With the Wind. This felt like the longest movie in the history of cinema. I was uninterested and rarely entertained. The over acting was too much too handle and I seriously wanted to shut it off half way through. Then ending is the best part, though there were some decent scenes scattered through out. Many people like this movie, I understand, but I think they like the fact, and the name of it, not the actual movie.

There are many more over rated movies out there. To give you some knowledge about myself, I like old movies - and even some similar in acting and style as the ones listed above (Citizen Kane, Lawrence of Arabia, King Kong). I also like newer movies and foreign titles (Hidden Fortress, Last King of Scotland...etc..). I am not judging your taste, only stating that the above movies did not affect me the way they were made out to be. I am in no way saying they are bad movies.

wooooow. you are a fucking idiot. gary busey was not in hotel rwanda. that was nick nolte. go die. you also didn't like the music because it didn't have melodramatic music? wow. yeah i usually go to a movie expecting some great melodramatic music, and am usually disappointed, as no good movies have good melodramatic music. also, finding neverland wasn't about peter pan you idiot, it was about j.m. barrie, the author of peter pan. maybe that's why you didn't like it. also, your an idiot.

I completely agree with the Gone with the wind is overated, I only watched a small part of it, when the slave is trying to get the guy to the house man was she a terrible actress I think thats why she got slapped in the next scene. I honestly thought it was a comedy at first
