62Important Paintball Equipment to Have on Hand
There is a seemingly endless selection of different paintball equipment options at hand for anyone getting ready to head into the field for the first time. While a paintball salesman may try to sell you any number of paintball accessories, you only truly need four things – your paintball gun, paintballs, the mask, and a blocking device.
Your Gun
Your paintball marker is the most important aspect of the game. After all, without it you cannot shoot anything. There are a number of different kinds of guns available for you to use, varying in the style of gas or air used to propel paintballs, the size of the barrel, the design of the gun itself and a slew of other details that may be important to you.
Most important of these factors is the gas in the paintball air tanks that power your gun. You can select from either CO2 or High Pressure Air powered tanks, each of them offering their own pros and cons, mainly relating to price and efficiency. While CO2 guns are cheaper, HPA guns are more accurate and less prone to jamming or breaking balls inside the gun.
The paintball feeder on your gun is also important. It must get the paintballs to your gun without breaking them, meaning there are multiple different methods used in feeder designs. Paintballs themselves are designed with gelatin to that they are easy to wash out of clothing.
The Mask
The most important piece of safety equipment you will need is your pair of paintball goggles. Not only is a good paintball mask required in any facility you decide to play in, it is a necessary addition to your safety gear, keeping your eyes safe as they are the most vulnerable part of your body in terms of exposure. Good paintball masks will also cover your ears and mouth to keep the chance of an errant paintball from hitting you in an opening that may cause damage or extreme discomfort.
Other Equipment
There are a number of additional paintball supplies that you may need in the field. As mentioned above, a barrel blocking device is vital. It needs to be placed within your barrel at all times when not playing to make sure you do not accidentally fire the gun or that it does not go off and injure someone.
Additional items you may require include your gear and clothing. Camouflage is a great addition but is only as important as the armor which it covers up. Make sure your body armor and clothing is thick enough to allow you the feeling of safety you need to fully enjoy your outings. If you are afraid of being bruised and beaten by paintballs, you won't have as much fun.
The best idea when starting to gather the necessary paintball equipment is to contact your local supplier and discuss with them the importance and use of certain items. You can also find internet forums and discussion boards where your fellow players can help you make these important decisions.
