The World is Ready to Watch: What is your Message?
68Pangea Day
Imagine this for a moment. If the whole world is ready to watch a video made by you, what will be the content of it? What message you will convey through a video or a movie that would be literally watched by most of the people on this planet?
On May 10, 2008 such a thing is going to happen. A world wide film festival that will last for 4 hours that will be similtaneously broadcast over global media, television channels and over the web/internet.
Pangea Day plans to use the power of movies to bring the world a little closer together. We're divided by borders, race, religion, conflict... but most of all by misunderstanding and mistrust. Pangea Day seeks to overcome that -- to help people see themselves in others -- through the power of film.
Movies can't change the world. But the people who watch them can.
Pangea Day is the result of such an inspiring thought. Images are powerful. Moving images, animation, videos and movies are even more powerful. Movies cut across geographical boundaries, language, gender, political or religious boundaries to communicate an idea. Thats why, the 2006 TED Prize winner Jehane Noujaim, who made her wish to "unite the world through the power of film" is spearheading the Pangea Day movement.
If you are wondering what is a "Pangea" then this is for you. Pangea is the original supercontinent when all our contients were attached together before the separation started millions of years ago. The logo represents how the "Pangea" looked like and it now rightly features that we have gathered again for a common cause.

So I have a question first - is the 4 hours going to be the same? Or will people be dedicating 4 hours to watching videos by other people? I like the idea either way, but see some extra value in all of the videos being created that should be seen.
The idea of video reducing divisions hit me a few months ago when I saw a clip of a group of young men in Iraq who were videoing their day-to-day activities. Seeing how people live in other places in the world is one way to improve understanding. And "life" isn't always captured well in professional films or documentaries - so the encouragement of everyone to participate by creating a film would seem to fill that void.
So to answer the question - the story I would tell would be "me" - just as I would enjoy and value being able to see other people present a video of their "normal day".
4 hrs of similtaneous telecast/watching. everyone will watch at the same time. ofcourse, people watch back, if they had missed.
My story would be LOVE. It is a potent force that will bring all nations, all people together. Love is a powerful chord that binds. Love erases pain, fear, guilt et al. With love the world will be a better and safer place for you and for me.
Nice hub.Keep it up. I feel good being your fan.
Knowing myself I'm afraid I'd so something banal like crack a joke. There is sincerely nothing that I have to say to the entire world (as sad as it sounds). Not that I'm a misanthropist, on the contrary.
I would sit there in absolute silence.
The impression I hope it would achieve would be that of confusion and thought. And much like art, people would decode it as they wished, and carry a message of their own choosing, their art (as it were)

My message would be to Open Your Mind. I believe that if people have open minds they are able to learn more and are also more accepting of others. I also think by opening our minds we have less disagreements, fights, and arguments. It gives us a greater oppotunity for peace. Peace
My message:In this world all are born equal. Treat everybody the same way. Don't try to judge others. Live and let other live!

Here, I go first. If the world is ready to watch my message, then it would be this. TRAVEL. Yes, I will ask people to travel. Travel or travelling will expand our horizons. We will discover differences or common things in culture, language, lifestyle, people, problems. Above all, with travel, we will discover our inner self. So, my message would be this - TRAVEL.
What will be your precious message?
