Pepper Sprays
You can be attacked anytime anywhere. At that time you may not have someone
to help you. This is why SELF DEFENSE is so important. No matter if you are big or small, young or old, male or female; we all need something to protect ourselves. If you don't want to carry something like a weapon you can opt for something which is very small yet effective enough when used on your attacker. Pepper sprays are one such self defense spray that you can carry in your pocket or hand bag with ease.
Pepper as we all know is a natural spice which when comes in contact with our eyes causes a terrible burning sensation and thus blinds us temporarily.
The pepper spray in today's current world doesn't have pepper but has some chemicals which have the same stinging effect.
There are three main kinds of sprays which are available in the market.
Each has a particular type of chemical component in it. The best and most effective pepper spray is considered to be the OC. OC stands for Oleoresin
Capsicum. The remaining two are equally strong and they are CN and CS. CN stands for alphachloroacetaphenone and Orthochlorobenzalmalonitrile is what CS stands for.
CN and CS are irritants and when sprayed in the attackers eyes cause a stinging sensation. It can take up to 30 seconds for the effects of this
pepper spray to be felt by the receiver. The sting causes you to feel pain and it may feel like a tearing sensation as well. However you cannot
be sure that this will affect your attacker as there at times when this spray is not effective. People when are drunk or are on drugs or other conditions where they cannot feel pain, will not feel the sting and then this defensive spray becomes a not so effective defense spray.
On the other hand OC stands out and is considered one up as it has a complete different working style. When you spray OC in your attacker's eye, it doesn't cause irritation or burning instead it causes the eye to swell up. This inflammatory spray causes the eye to shut because of the swelling. Over and above this it dilates the attacker's capillaries causing him to be blind for a short while. Thus, even if your attacker is able to open his eyes after all the swelling, he still won't be able to see anything because of the dilated
capillaries.
This sudden inflammation also causes some breathing troubles for the attacker. He will be able to breathe to live but will end up coughing continuously. At times a few seconds of immobility of your attacker can help save your life.
It can buy you the time needed to run, hide or call for help. There are people who get used to certain chemicals when they are constantly in touch with it. This is the only time when the spray will not be effective.
Keep your safety in mind and then opt for a pepper spray. It is provided in tiny and creative packs so that your attacker will not identify it. They are
available in the market in the form of lipsticks, small torches, tiny deodorant bottles etc. Check out our self defense products.
