Stretch Marks and Loose Skin - Never Fear Help is Here!
77Don't Cover it Up - Get Rid of it
You CAN Get Rid of Loose Skin and Stretch Marks - To a Certain Extent...
Don't believe the hype - people will tell you that the only way to rid yourself of loose skin and stretch marks is surgery...and others will try to sell you miracle creams and treatments...both scenarios are pure rubbish. Think about it, If simple expansion ruined our skin, then we'd have loose skin after swelling in injury or even simply growing - all our kids would have stretch marks when they hit growth spurts. It just doesn't make sense to think that simple rapid expansion will scar us for life. What DOES make sense is that aging, and depriving ourselves of vital nutrition causes our skin to be less resiliant. There is no "miracle cure," but surgery is not the only way to get the smooth skin you want.
So, what's the answer? Good sound nutrition and good sound skin care. There are lots of supplements to help promote skin elasticity, and plenty of skin care tricks that will stimulate cell turnover. Both of these factors play a significant role in eliminating, or at least minimizing the effects of loose skin and stretch marks. As we age, during pregnancy, and when we diet our skin's needs change. We require more nutritional maintainance. Aging plays a part because it becomes more difficult for our bodies to absorb some of things we need and because we tend to be a bit careless about nutrition. Pregnancy is a huge factor, in that everything we take in is ultimately sucked up by the baby. Those prenatal vitamins aren't enough to keep that little life from literally sucking all the "juice" from our skin, making it vulnerable to damage. And it goes without saying that dieting can create nutritional voids that cause the same problem.
First remember to keep your body hydrated, lots of water and a diet rich with fruits and veggies will help. Next, begin incorporating these vitamins and nutrients to your diet - protein, vitamins A, C, E, and EFAs (essential fatty acids). All of these components come together to feed the skin and help produce collagen. Your skin requires all of these things to be elastic. After you begin nourishing your skin from the inside- it's time to start caring from the outside.
You don't have to buy expensive moisturizers and creams to take care of your skin...you simply need to think about feeding the outside like you feed the inside with vitamins, nutrients, and moisture. Cocoa butter lotion and vitamin E oil are wonderful moisturizers. Not only that, exfoliation is very, very important. Exfoliation stimulates cell turnover and sloughs away old skin. One of my favorite products is the Neutrogena Skin Rejuvenator...it's truly awesome and will leave your skin feeling baby soft. I use it all over. If your stretch marks are deep, try Mederma for scars. This product works wonders when used faithfully. It's not organic, but it is revolutionary.
Take skin nourishing supplements and moisturize daily, and complete a full exfoliating routine at least every other day. Keep this up for at least 3 to 6 months and you'll see dramatic changes. You will also want to make sure that you're toning the muscle underneath your skin to provide a tighter appearance.
For some people, generally those extreme cases associated with gastic bypass etc., surgery is the only way to get the results they desire, but even if you're one of these people, you should take the 3 to 6 months to prepare as above. Your skin will be as healthy and as tight as possible before your surgery and your recovery will be much faster.
It's not hopeless -you can get the look you want. All you need is the right combination of care and a little patience.
