Photographing Trees
72When I started taking photos using my digital camera, one of my favourite subject are trees, I just become a little obsessive when it comes to photographing trees.
Trees always attract my attention. The shape, texture, color and lines of trees always fascinates me, I can't resist a well-shaped and nicely lit tree when I see one. I find trees inspiring, there is something spiritually uplifting about seeing the beauty of trees looking up the sky. If trees could speak I guess every tree have a story to tell.
I like taking photos of trees with an unusual shape, they are a perfect model. Trees are everywhere and most of the time you'll just get lucky and find interesting and unusual trees along the way.
I find it amazing that sometimes you can compare trees to people, some are stout, others are slim, some are massive and tall. What I find is that some older trees have a stronger presence, than the rest.
I still need to learn a lot of techniques in photographing trees, I want to photograph trees in different times of the year, i haven't really found a tree that is isolated in some way from its surroundings. I guess it takes a lot of practice and scouting for a model tree.... here are few shots that I have taken.
I hope you will like them...

Wonderful photography my dear...there sure are some beautiful trees in this world..One of my favorite pics to take are of barns. I have a bunch from across the country...well from Calif. to Washington state that is..and like Eileen would love to paint them one of these days.
Better get started tho the way time seems to fly by..Thanks for a very nice Hub G-Ma :o) hugs
Like what Eileen said, trees have characters and even dead trees have beauty of their own. I agree, to an artist, trees are wonderful source of inspiration...no trees are alike. I always tell myself, when I'm 80 and alive, I'll pick up a few brushes and capture the beauty of all trees within sight.
Hi Ladies, thanks for dropping by, I am sure one day you will be able to pick up your brushes and capture the beauty of this wonderful inspiring creature.
Lovely pictures MM. I also love looking at trees. Hey this reminds me...I love autumn. When we went to australia last year, I remember seeing the trees starting to change color. And I so love looking at that too. May I ask for pictures of autumn trees and borrow them for me to use? LOL or is that too much to ask?
I too am attracted to trees. ..Old spirits they are. Thank you for sharing the photos with us. C.S.
There are some things in nature that just naturally catch our eye. I took digital pictures of some trees that were on my route traveled everyday. The spring season was my favorite - beautiful white blooms covered three trees. An old fashion clock stood not too far from them. I looked forward to the sight and stopped more than once to take numerous pictures. I am glad that I took those pictures because they are now gone. The ice storms of last winter damaged them and they could not be saved.
Your photos are wonderful
What a great hub. I truly enjoyed the pictures. They are really different and you are right ..they are good subjects. Thank you so much for sharing these photos ...I will check out the other hubs you have ...I am very interested. This is an area that I am not very good. Perhaps I could learn something.
Will be back again ...my best to your success!
Wow, great photos. I know what you mean about trees. So many shapes and sometimes you can even see things in them - like shapes in clouds.
Lovely photos. Thanks for sharing.
I completely agree...there is just something about trees that I find fascinating. I especially love a late sunset behind the tree, so that it is silhouetted black against the colour...beautiful :D
Thanks for sharing
