Pocket Bikes
79Pocket Bike Overview
Pocket bikes are those little 1/4 scale motorcycles. Make no mistake about it, these aren't toys - in fact they're made for adults. Usually just two feet tall, most full grown people riding them look rather silly, but this is a very fast growing market with pocket bike racing taking over many local go-kart tracks.
There are several types of pocketbikes, with several major manufacturers bulding namebrands like Polini as well as Chinese knock-offs. Pocket bikes, often called pocket rockets, can go quite fast - up to 70mph on the "super" models. WIth kids these days wanting dirtbikes and these mini bikes, parents should know and understand the differences between the different models available.

Buying A Pocket Bike
When buying a pocket bike, make certain you understand the different types of pocket bikes and what might be best for you or your child. For example, there are electric and gas pocket bikes with 49cc-110cc engines - each with their own advantages and disadvantages. There are mini pocket bikes, which are 1/4 scale, and there are also 1/2 scale super pocket bikes with top speeds exceeding 70 miles per hour.
There are bikes made specifically for dirt, with knobby tires and there are more asphault oriented pockets with slick tires that probably won't perform very well on grass or in your yard. Most of the smaller models are automatic, or just with a simple go-kart type centrifugal clutch - though the larger 110cc pocket rockets might be equipped with 4 speed manual hand-clutch shifted transmissions.
There are expensive brand, Italian made, pocket bikes from makers such as Polini as well as other premium brands that cost upwards of $1,000 or more. However, if you're in the market for a cheap pocket bike, there are hundreds or more for sale at any given time on places like eBay and Amazon. Just make sure you know what you're getting into and take all the necessary safety precautions like wearing a helment and road protection. Safety first!

good hub. Watch idiots let their kids ride around all the time. Kid wrecked hard last year, and dad was upset because police gave him violations. Moron still lets his kids ride, after that 1 had a 2 week hos. stay.
