Poem - Obeisance to Radamanthus.

I saw a horse standing in a field calm and relaxed,

I envied it.

In this octopus life my tentacles gripping needless things

I wave my soul goodbye, floating on top of life.

money, taxes, rules, conventions, things of no consequence.

Snorri Sturluson’s voice still heard,

the butcher, breadmaker and blacksmith down his street disappeared.

Life is lived in the leaving behind , all else is as Ozymandias

but the monkeys stand with money bowls

shiny trinkets piled up acorn like to winter pay

not for the crossing to the Underworld

or in obeisance to the harshest judge

but spent and squandered

now only baying and crying and begging, be not so Radamanthine

Radamanthus

Percy Bysshe Shelley's poem, 'Ozymandias

I met a traveller from an antique land

Who said: "Two vast and trunkless legs of stone Stand in the desert.

Near them on the sand, Half sunk, a shattered visage lies, whose frown

And wrinkled lip and sneer of cold command

Tell that its sculptor well those passions read

Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things,

The hand that mocked them and the heart that fed.

And on the pedestal these words appear: `

My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings:

Look on my works, ye mighty, and despair!'

Nothing beside remains.

Round the decay Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare,

The lone and level sands stretch far away.

Reminds me of a French saying: graveyards are full of indispensable people.

..such is the nature of medium - we all stumbled in... thanks for the comment..

Hey Paul

how are you keeping ? thanks you very much for the nice comment, I always say poems are divided into the good the bad and the ugly, I'm working on the bad and leaving the ugly and the good alone... laughs..

Hi Livelonger

thanks for the comment, how does it go in French... ?

I wanted to give you the heads up that we are making some changes to HP over the next several months that I hope will ignite the poets here.

Any features that you think would be useful to bring the poet community here together?

Hi Paul

it's always exciting to hear of change like this and I will give it serious thought over the next few days. I have been offline now for 6 days because of a fault with my broadband so am playing catchup. I will definitely email you with some ideas and suggestions.

Regards

I felt Rhadamanthus peeking over my shoulder for years...he followed me closely through college, profession, and love...Last year I kicked his ass out, banned him from my presence, and began to live without obeisance to his soft tyranny...

Your imagery impresses, I must read more of your prose...Larry
