Introduction

Halloween, Samhain or All Hallow's Eve, the eve of... the Day of the Dead.. (El Día de los Muertos)

This is poem number 2 of a series in the build-up to All Hallows Eve... dark, deathly and dangerous times to walk the streets....

Poem - El Día de los Muertos

the Day of the Dead crawls closer, closer,

candles lean towards dark

as I linger on the threshold my mind sees eyes,

masked spirits smile in lipless faces,

pointed teeth, chewing the flesh of the hanged,

cloaked ghouls climb the black clouds

chanting at the stars,

dead language spells echo in the wind,

the mist of power rises with the moon

and it becomes as ghost.

I am wizard in that hour

join me on my altar,,.be my bride, ..of dark, ..of death.

Jimmy..would it be appropiate for an anniversary card ? as we say in Tyrone;-

..I worship the ground you're buried in...

I have a bit of Haiku which suits that;-

the strife of life

a wife

a weight a stone

a home

I write hackery, but not poetry. You do a nice job of it Drax; I'm envious. Great hub - Oh, I hope hackery isn't a real word meaning something bad.

thanks very much Wajay, in motorsport they talk about seat time, you have to spend time in the seat of a fast car to get a real feel for it, I think poetry is the same.. seat time of course could be translated as sitting around on your ass most of the time, ...reflecting... :-)
