An elliptical trainer is a machine that uses an oval form of cadence in making it function. Most elliptical trainers have both lower body and upper body workout functions which is why many people find this very effective.

There are several kinds of elliptical trainers and these include the heavy duty ones, the lightweight ones and the portable elliptical trainers. A portable elliptical trainer is more convenient because this can be brought anywhere in the house with some effort.

Advantages of Getting a Portable Elliptical Trainer

Getting a portable elliptical trainer for home use can be beneficial for you. The main benefit of a portable elliptical trainer is ease of lugging it around the house to suit your preferences. Most of the portable elliptical trainer models have small caster wheels to facilitate better movement and ease of transport.

Most of the caster wheels are made of hard plastic or rubber while some are made from steel. Steel wheels (and even the hard plastic ones) can gouge your wooden floor or your tiles. Care is needed when moving your portable elliptical trainer around your home.

Some people prefer to exercise in some areas of the house at different times due to the comfort, light and scenery. The portable elliptical trainer is very perfect for these kinds of people who like to transfer for their convenience. Another benefit of owning a portable elliptical trainer is the fact that it is lightweight. This makes it less damaging if it falls on your floor or on someone. It is also easier to lift up or stand for storage in a closet.

Some disadvantages of the portable elliptical trainer are the lightweight materials used for its construction, its durability and the damage it can cause when you have an accident while moving it around the house. To make the portable elliptical trainer lighter than the others, light materials need to be used to make it.

The tendency of light materials is their propensity to dent easily or bent out of shape or to misalign. Plastic is usually made to look like aluminum or steel to give the elliptical trainer a hefty look more in accordance to the expensive ones.

A portable elliptical trainer can be a joy to have as long as you take care to move it carefully wherever and whenever you want. Although, the lifespan of an elliptical trainer of this class may be lower than the heavy duty ones, the proper care and maintenance will extend it's life.

Very interesting hub. I like to have a portable trainer too but unfortunately they are mighty expensive. However, I have friends who have told me how effective it is, I just wish I can find something affordable too or else I might not be the one losing weight but so is my wallet. Can you recommend one? and what do you think is the best place in a house to place the equipment? By the way, I have a hub on elliptical trainers too, you might want to check it out.
