Deter and Prevent Theft
I decided to write this hub after searching for a portable lock to take with me on a trip. Usually, I'm a bit nervous alone in hotel rooms. Small noises wake me up, and I wonder if it's someone trying to break into my room. Who wants to feel tired the next day on vacation because concern about noises and theft? I thought a small lock would help me rest easy at night.
My research for a travel lock led me to re-discover that trusty combination lock many of us have used on lockers at school. I also discovered a laptop lock that secures the laptop to the desk. What I do now when I leave my house is hide my laptop -- a bit time consuming for my taste -- so I'm incorporating the use of a lock to secure my computer to my desk.

Thanks for all the information about different portable locks. I have often felt uncomfortable in hotel rooms but didn't really think I had a resource other than the regular door lock. Now I know better.
