No More Diapers!

I was reading "Parent Magazine" when I ran across an article about things being considered in the desperate attempt to get their babies/toddlers potty trained. Being able to identify with the urgency behind not having to buy another diaper, pull-up, or rubber pants, I know that a potty trained kid is like an oasis in the desert. However, I don't think I was ever ready to hire anyone to do the training for me. Unfortunately wet beds and soiled clothes have brought people to start out sourcing.

Well I don't know about all the magical tricks to do to get your kid to use the toilet. Fortunately for me...I didn't need it! I'll be glad to share what I did because actually....It worked like a charm.

If you are not the kind to get uptight about privacy( and you shouldn't be...you have kids ) this Will be a snap.

This is so obvious it hurts.

Let the child use the bathroom when you do. Tadaa!!!

Every time I went to the bathroom so did my kid. I have a boy and girl 11months apart. So yeah, the three of us would be right there doing what came natural. I kept their potties in the bathroom next to each other and ready to go. Every time they did something I made a big deal out of it, but when they did it on their own it was like a "New years Eve Bash" ... at least until they really got the hang of it.

Don't keep them in diapers forever. Graduate to pull-ups as soon as you can. Treat the pull-ups like underwear. You want to ge them comfortable with the idea of wearing underwear. Then buy really cool underwear that they can't wait to get their little bottoms in. There may be slip ups here and there. Don't make a big deal out of it. Remain cool. Even though you want to cry, let the child know it's no biggie. Remind them they are doing well and you know they will do better next time.

Keep their confidence in tact at all times! It will go a long way.

You're gonna have to ask them practically all day "you gotta go?" but it's OK. You get use to it. Besides, this stage really doesn't last that long.

If you feel you have tried everything and nothing is working, or if the child is well past the age they should be wetting themselves, seek the help of a doctor.

Happy Undies!
