Muslim Day of Prayer by Capitol Building

Christian Day of Prayer Cancelled

In 1952, President Truman established one day a year as a National Day of Prayer. Then, in 1988, President Reagan designated the first Thursday in May of each year as the National Day of Prayer. Now, there were no “prayer police” making sure you participated in some ceremony, or checking to make sure you prayed that day. Prayer has always been an individual choice. If you don’t want to pray, then don’t. This country, however, was founded primarily by Christian believers. Even Jewish people have a God with whom they can pray. To my knowledge Christians and Jews have always respected the others holidays in this country.

The ACLU has covered a cross erected in 1934, in the Mojave Desert for those that died in WWI because in might offend someone. The case is currently waiting for trial in the Supreme Court. Easter sunrise services had been held there for decades.. Atheist in this country are somewhere between 12-15% but they seem to have the power to remove crosses from cemeteries, abolish Christmas programs in schools, try to abolish Christmas decorations. We are suppose to say Happy Holidays now instead of Merry Christmas. It is very frustrating that liberal courts have allowed the minority to have more power than the majority.  Our nation is changing for the worse, and we seem powerless to stop the process.  We can, however, vote and the next two elections are so important if we want to change the tide of socialism that is sweeping our country.

Now the crowning blow: President Obama allowed the Muslim religion to have a National Day of Prayer which was on September 25, 2009, from 4 AM to 7 PM held on Capitol Hill, beside the White House where thousands attended. Hmmm, maybe President Obama is a Muslim and has been trying to fool us into thinking he is a Christian. Actions do speak louder than words. Watch what our President does rather than listening to what he says.

I will sum up this hub by saying:  MERRY CHRISTMAS! MERRY CHRISTMAS! HO, HO, HO

Pamela,

Merry Christmas to you also. Jesus loves us all. Christ is love and the savior of the entire World.

On the deal in the Arizona dessert, the lower court blocked a deal to trade the public land with the memorial for five times the amount of private land. A private land owner offered the Federal Government his private land in a trade for the land the memorial was on so the memorial could remain. The Government took the deal but the ACLU wouldn't leave it alone.

Good morning Tom. I see you are also up early. Thanks for sharing. I have been reading about this for a while also and it so annoying. The ACLU has become a disgrace to this nation.

Thank all of you for stopping by. Eovery, I have read several of your excellent hubs but will check specifically for this one to make sure I didn't miss it. I have heard the Muslims will take over everything and you sure may be right about the second coming. Pop, I think he is really dangerous also. DiamondRN, from a fellow nurse, I agree that is is wrong on so many levels. Thanks everyone.

We have to hide our nativity scenes, and replace them with burka's. Ho, ho, ho!

Nativity scenes really now? We have this nativity rebate every year. This one Christian group seems to have NO ROOM for the Scenes and want to park in front of the Court House. This thing of plastic, cheap, faded, paint peeling piece of crap. It is over 50 years old and looks 100. And this thing you want to represent your faith. And maybe it is your faith, cheap and faded. Think real hard. If you can't wear the nativity scene within your heart, don't park it on someone else's property.

I don't mention any nativity scene in my article. The article was about the Muslim dav of prayer receiving Obama's okay and the Christian day of prayer he canceled which was held in May. How does that hurt you? No one is asking you to pray or look at any decorations. I'll bet you have a holiday tree instead of a Christmas tree. And, I bet you go to "holiday" parties during the Christmas season. What a joke. Where's your joy that you let something like a nativity scene upset you?

I am neither Pro Christian nor Pro Muslim. But we live in a country founded on Freedom of Religion and when a Politician takes sides on this issue it kind of shows them for what they really are don't you think? I love Christmas and if people want to display nativity scenes and worship Christ then I say bring it on.

I feel the same way. I have no problem with the Muslim having a day of prayer but I have a problem with the Christian day being canceled.

The constitution is being trashed on many levels and we really need to speak up and be heard. I guess that is basically what the tea parties are about. They want their opionion heard.

Pamela 99,

You have written an honest assessment of the situation. I somehow managed to miss the news that the Muslims had their day of prayer on Capitol Hill. I was appalled to learn that the president had ignored the National Day of Prayer. But to then agree to having a National Day of Muslim prayer is unacceptable.

I have tried to ignore most of the accusations that President Obama is a closet Muslim, but his actions are truly suspicious!

As far as the placement of Christmas Nativity Scenes and other symbols of Christianity, it is wrong to out law something most of the people want. It is ridiculous for a small number of people to dictate to the rest of the population.

And Merry Christmas to you, too!
