How Can You Prevent Swine Flu?

It is impossible to go anywhere without hearing about the swine flu. It is all over the newspapers, TV and a popular conversation piece. Because of the daunting scares associated with the H1N1 virus and swine flu epidemic, you may be wondering if there is anything that you can do to prevent the swine flu from affecting you and your family. There are differing ideas on what the best way to prevent the swine flu are so it is up to you to decide which fits best into your lifestyle.

Natural Healing Remedies For Preventing Swine Flu
There are many people who favor natural methods for preventing the swine flu virus that follow the Ayurvedic practices. These remedies suggest using certain foods and spices to stave off the virus and some of the tips for natural healing include the following:
• Eat nourishing, warm foods with spices that enhance the immune system like turmeric
• Eat organic foods only because they contain no impurities like non-organic foods may.
• Avoid drinking or eating anything cold during your meals to help aid in digestion and protect the immune system.
• Use warm sesame oil massages daily because of the anti-inflammatory effects

Other Ways to protect yourself Against the Swine Flu
Those who choose to rely on science versus natural healing offer the following tips to help prevent the swine flu virus:
• Use hand sanitizer often, especially after being in public places
• Wear a mask if you are in public places or where you are likely to be exposed to the virus
• Wash hands frequently with soap and water

Whichever methods you tend to use to prevent getting the virus, it is important to always practice good hygiene and carry hand sanitizer with you. If a person is diagnosed with the swine flu, it is best to keep them isolated until the virus passes the contagious stages. The best way to prevent the virus is to not let it spread. If someone in your family develops the virus, try to keep them in their own area of the home and wash everything that they touch regularly.

The H1N1 virus can be contagious for a few days in healthy adults, and longer in children. If you feel yourself coming down with flu symptoms and believe that you could have contracted the swine flu virus, it is a good idea to get tested and make sure. Your doctor can do a respiratory test, which is sent in to a lab for testing.

There are ways to protect your health in general that can make you less likely to contract the swine flu virus such as eating a healthy diet with plenty of fruits and vegetables, drinking plenty of fluids and getting enough vitamins in your daily diet. Taking care of yourself by getting plenty of sleep and exercise is the best way to prevent yourself from getting the swine flu and any other virus that you may be exposed to.
