Stop hating on Princess B, she looks damn good!
A recent photo of Princess Beatrice of York in a Bikini has stimulated much gossip in the media.
The photo initially received a lot of crticism and remarks that Princess Beatrice is too "fat" to wear a bikini.
According to this article, it was said that she needs to wear a saronge and apparently society was very disgusted that someone who is a size 10 would "flaunt" their bodies on a public beach in a bikini.
To those who are hating on Princess Beatrices body: Are you fucking kidding me? She is drop dead gorgeous and I wish there were MORE pictures of her half naked.
It saddens me that we live in a society where thin is in. Even celebrities that are viewed as "buxom" are well under their recommended body weight. This makes for an unattainable figure that too many women are striving for.
Princess B is a size 10. That is NORMAL and HEALTHY and she looks better in a bikini than the waifs out there that society approves of.
It doesn't surprise me Princess Bs photo has caused a lot of drama-- it has become "fashionable" to look like a stick, with little or no boobs, and hardly have any type of shape... so naturally, a woman with a fleshy figure will be frowned upon by most.
Many people attribute this sickly thin trend to the fact that women are always in competition with each other and cut each other down. For the most part, this is true.
But we really must consider WHY women set such unreasonable standards for each other and WHY they're always in competition with each other.... any thoughts?
I'll tell you why, because they want to please men. You really can't give me any other justifiable reason that women are so fixated on their appearances.
Even though a lot of men perfer an "average" figure, there are a lot of men out there who think average is too "fat". Thus, women take what these men say to heart and start starving themselves to statisfy the gaze they are constantly held in.
Men are scopophiliacs, so really, the bottom line is, women keep disappearing under the pressure of men putting so much weight into visual perfection.
And then there are those of us who appreciate the female form and a womanly body, so Princess B, don't you dare cover up that fabulous body of yours.

Great Hub, Lady Luck, and I agree with Barbara - women do it to each other much more than men do it to women.
In fact, most men I know complain that they like women with curves and that models and celebrities are too thin. It's just that most of the celebrity magazines are bought and read by women, and women are super-critical of other womens' bodies.

I have to agree that Beatrice is a knock out. I also have to say that I am quite happy that fuller figure women are finally getting the respect (IN some circles) that they have always deserved. Give me a curvy, shapely woman anytime over the stickfigures the designers choose to cloth and send stomping along the fashion runwyays. They look like broomsticks with clothes on. Nice job Lady Luck.

Being of the "stick, with little or no boobs, and hardly have any type of shape" variety, I would like to say that Beatrice is lovely and also that sometimes we inherit our bodies and have little choice in the matter. I have a difficult time gaining weight and in fact, cannot eat when I am stressed which makes me even thinner. I can hear many of you saying, what a terrible problem that is, NOT. It is actually more dangerous to be thin than overweight. I had to go to a nutritionist to figure out how to gain weight, as I was in a bad "weigh" a few years back- I was eating myself from the inside out, disgusting as it sounds. And it wasn't because I wanted to be thin... those thin women have problems, too. Thanks for the hub.
I'm not saying sticks are ugly, you sticks have it pretty good, society loves you!!! Thin is IN, but I being very bisexual just prefer women with meat on them. I am only DISGUSTED with the fact that a size 10 is fat.

The media are ridiculous. A couple months ago I remember seeing one of those "Celebs without makeup!" issues in line at Wallgreens or something and was appalled at the adorable picture of Mily Cyrus lumped in to insinuate she was ugly without makeup--except she looked GREAT. The media make it their job to say "this is what ugly looks like" when pointing at celebs who look NORMAL just so we normal people will run out and buy the new make-up/exercise equipment/weight loss pill/etc. when we look beautiful already just the way we are. Sure exercise is healthy and make-up can be fun to wear, but we're constantly being bombarded to the point we overdo it just to "look good."
Its too bad more women in the public eye don't embrace the natural healthy form they were born with. Great hub!
I would like to dispute the whole men like sticks. Some men like sticks...the rest of us hereafter referred to as the enlightened like meat on the bones. None of my friends and as I say that I mean I don't know or associate with any man who likes rail women. I believe that women are supposed to be women, i.e. have breasts and hips. Princess Beatrice is killing with that bikini, small waist full bootiful hips. And I hadn't even seen the black dress photos before, you made my day with that one. Nice and built, just the way myself and the rest of the enlightened like them.

I prefer thin women but it is more about exercise than the gaunt unhealthy non-eating types...food it a wonderful thing. Anyone can carry a couple extra pounds and look good though as long as they are healthy.
I agree. The criticism in the media is damaging all women. I feel extra sorry for the young girls today. My daughter turned 12 recently and had a party. When the 7 girls were sharing one bag of chips, I was appalled to hear one of them tell the other that they would "get fat" if they ate anymore. Where did this come from? Well put, I can't believe some people have the nerve to criticise anyone. Who are they to judge? And besides, she looks just fine. I'm sure she's not exactly pleased with her weight, but she's definitely not fat. She's curvy, and that's hot. Many women would kill to have curves like that, as they read their beauty magazines and starve themselves to get their stomach to dissapear haha. You can't have one without the other, it seems. Or most women can't, at least. Modern beauty standards are unrealistic. And people on the internet, who have never even met this girl, have no right to judge her.
But one complaint, her eyes are so buggy; I don't find that attractive at all. She looks shocked in every picture. And her mouth is always in the exact same half-open position. I wonder why that is?
You know she really does have buggy eyes, so maybe we could put a bag over her head?

The picture Lady Luck posted shows Beatrice at a flattering angle. The other bikini shots are more frontal and Beatrice does look pretty broad in them. And I do find her bug-eyed in many pictures...sorry Lady Luck, just because you find her attractive doesn't mean other people have to.

I agree - she's a lovely young woman and has every reason to be proud of her figure. I think women are harder on each other than the men. I've seen more "looks" pass between women in judgement of another than I have men. Guys tend to be breast or hindend focused. They don't look much past the body part of their choice! LOL
Woman or man, fat or thin, young or old, we each need to look in the mirror every day and cherish the magnificent temple we've been given. No one has the right to sit in judgment of someone else and say mean and hurtful things - especially about someone so young.
