Priyamani: the award winner

Priyamani, another versatile actress from Kerala, born June 4, 1984 in Palakkad, Kerala. She was brought up in banglaore. Her parents are Vasudeva Mani and Latha Mani. She was introduced to film industry by Tamil director, Bharathiraja.

Priyamani won the prestigious National Film Award for Best Actress for her very successful lead as Muthazaghu in Tamil movie PARUTHIVEERAN (2007). PARUTHIVEERAN (2007) is a benchmark Tamil film directed by Ameer Sultan. He did the story and screenplay as well. The movie won several other awards.

Her debut film was KANGALAL KAITHU SEI a film by Bharathiraja, which was a flop at the box-office. And no further offers were coming from Kollywood. She turned to Telugu and Malayalam movies. Her Telugu debut was PELLAINA KOTHALO opposite Jagapati Babu. Following success of this movie, Priyamani rose to fame.

Priyamani re-entered and made her Tamil comeback with her film Paruthiveeran starring debutant Karthik Sivakumar (son of veteran actor Sivakumar). She has also signed on for another Tamil film in which she plays the lead role with actor Jeevan.

She was paired with Dhanush in Balu Mahendra's Adhu Oru Kana Kaalam, another flop at the box-office as well.

Before movies happened to her, she did several modeling for several ads for silk sarees, like Kancheepuram silks, Erode silks and Lakshmi silks. She loves chatting, music and dance.
