Downloading Games for PSP

Welcome to Downloading Games for PSP. The Sony PlayStation Portable is still a very popular gaming device, however, the cost of PSP games has made many PSP owners look for alternative ways to continue their gaming experience without the high cost involved. There are plenty of downloadable games for the PSP. Just do a Google search for "free psp games" and there will be tens of millions of results. A few of these sites are legal, but the vast majority are not, and you will be violating copyright laws if you start downloading from one of these dodgy sites. You can try these ‘free PSP games', but this is what you will also get - a very poor selection of games and very slow download speeds. Another scam to watch out for with these free download sites is that they usually have spyware and adware which will infect your computer. I have come across free "membership" download sites as well, but these are merely a scam to extract your personal information and then upsell you a whole lot of stuff that you don't want.

Fortunately for us PSP enthusiasts there a reputable and legal PSP download sites for downloading games for PSP. Yes, there is a once-off membership fee (usually between $40 to $60), but then you have access to unlimited games, 24 hour support and, most importantly, quick download speeds from their huge servers. In addition to games one can also download music, movies, TV shows, wallpaper and more to your PSP. If you are hesitant to pay the money-back guaranteed membership fee, then you are left with two alternatives. The first is to pay $40 for a game at your local mall store or, secondly, download the "free" games and then spend days sorting out your infected PC.

The ideal PSP game download site must provide free PSP software tools as well as excellent support and easy-to-use instructions. I have to recommend PSP Download Center as it has all of these important attributes.

PSP Download Center gives you access to huge PSP games databases, DVD quality movies, PSP software and PSP software upgrades. In summary, this is what you will get from PSP Download Center:

  1. Super Fast PSP downloads.

  4. Very Good technical support and much more.
  5. No Adware or Spyware!

Downloading Games to your PSP - Tech Talk

This article describes how to downloading games for PSP manually, but you do not need to do this if you subscribe to the PSP Download Center site as their software does the whole downloading process all for you. If you would like to visit PSP Download Site Reviews or the PSP Video Showcase, then click on these links.

First download the particular PSP game you are wanting from the internet and save in a dedicated folder on your PC. Ensure that you have a PSP Memory Stick in the PSP, preferably 2GB or higher. Connect a USB cable from the PC to the PSP console and when the cable is connected, the PC will recognize the external hardware and a drive letter will be displayed on the PSP. Now drag and drop the game file to the PSP using the PSP to Game path. When the transfer has been completed (i.e. the game file is now on the PSP's memory stick, remove the USB cable. Go back to the PSP's main menu and select Game and then Memory Stick Option. To display what game files are in the memory stick, press X.

At this stage error messages can sometimes be displayed; for example like, "The Game could not be Started" or "The data is corrupted". If so, you'll need to see what firmware version you have. The firmware is the operating system of the PSP and it changes with the release of updated PSP models. Only versions 1.0 and 1.5 will allow the PSP to play downloaded games. In order to find out what firmware version your PSP has, go and select System Settings in the menu. Select, System Information and then the Option System.

Because the latest PSPs have firmware versions of 2.0 and above, you may have heard of hackers modifying the updated firmware so as to play older games, but definitely don't try this as you could really brick your PSP. Always download a games file that is compatible with your console. Check that the raw game file has a "psp" extension as that is needed to work on your PSP.
