If you’re sick and tired of being overweight and you’re thinking about the best way to lose some of those excess fats, your best option is always through proper diet and exercise. While it's true that it will require a little bit of your time and some hard work and determination, the results are well worth every sacrifice in the end.

You may also have been in and out of gyms and exercise programs through the years but still haven’t gotten the results you were aiming for. Don’t lose heart. The fastest way to gain more pounds than you first weighed is to lose all hope and consider yourself a lost cause. Emotional eating is the fastest way to obesity.

Losing weight is simply a matter of controlling 2 things:

  1. the food you consume and
  2. the amount you exercise

It's really as simple as that. Putting this into practice though is where the challenge begins.

Healthy Weight Loss - It's the Food You Eat

Shedding off those excess pounds is easier than you think if you remain focused on your goal and unfazed by daily temptations.

Here is a plan to try. Start by creating a journal of your daily eating habits. Write down every morsel of food you put in your mouth for the next 48 hours at least to help you keep track of how much food you actually expose your body to.

You might be surprised at the amount of food you ingest on a daily basis. Don’t forget to include every bit of food even if it’s just those two grains of peanuts you reached for on your way out or the piece of gum you chewed while queuing in the bank.

Tick off every bit that you should have done without – every junk food, fatty foods, and such. In their place, put something healthy like carrot sticks in place of that sugar-free gum.

Start slowly until your body gets used to your new diet.

Exercising Without Really Trying

If you don’t have time to go to the gym or an actual exercise regimen turns you off, just walk a few times around your block or when you’re on your way to the grocery. Mow your own lawn instead of paying someone else to do it. Take the stairs instead of using the escalators when out and about.

You can also do some sports that you enjoy like tennis or badminton, swimming or running. In fact, one of the best ways to get you motivated is to join a marathon or a tourney just to play your game. It doesn’t have to be a big sports event as you can even do this with your friends.

One of the biggest things that encouraged me to walk was by getting a dog. I have grown so attached to my dog that I now not only walk her once a day, but also again just before midnight before I head to sleep. Seeing the smile on her face makes me so happy and makes me WANT to take her for a walk. At the same time, I'm doing my health a big favour too.
