quantum love waves
55The queen waves her prim gloved hand,
From beneath her pink hat, veiled face,
The crowd responds with ripples
Of patriotic pride and class resentment.
In the desert, the camel is blurred
By waves of heat among the dunes
As far as the eye can see.
In the laboratory the laser,
With synchronized waves of light
Burns steel like butter.
Businesses boom and bust
While children play hide and seek.
Sailboats negotiate the swells,
Scurry down one wave to face another going up.
The boy skips a rock across the glassy pond
And watches the circles expand
Like concentric crop circles
Written from above.
Light in the lover’s eyes bathes
Her in cascades of holy beauty.
And the self, at the center of it all
Looks out, about an ocean of Mozartian joy
While the world precipitates and dissolves
In weightless rhythms of being.
