what better way to show off than with radio controlled yachts i ask? All Radio controlled boats can be great fun for any fully grown child! With so many choices of designs and builds is the rc yacht the overall winner?

There definitely seems to be large groups of hobbyists who have built a community around their love for radio controlled yachts. It's no surprise, some of these boats are truly beautiful. I have seen scaled down models of real yachts that haven't lost one tiny piece of detail or class. Anyone who is well tuned to detail is going to love some of these RC boats on the market.

Of course, there are some low quality 'smacked together in a factory' RC products out there - that aren't quite as glamorous, but you get what you pay for. It's not really worth investing in an expensive radio controlled yacht if your not in anyway close to a lake or large pond. I mean, if your going near a place like this for a break and want to have a bit of fun with some radio control toys, then get one or two of those 40 dollar ones. They're not great, don't look too pretty and do not have a big range, but it does the job. You have fun.. which is what its about right.

Living close to a body of water (not the sea folks) is going to allow for you to really get stuck into the radio controlled boat hobby. Sure you can test your latest build in the bath, but whats the point of having a Ferrari if you're only going to rev it in the driveway? You're gonna want to take that baby out for a spin.

Hey, if you are as competitive as i am, you should look into the local competitions for radio controlled yacht racing. It's a blast, and don't think you need your own boat to attend, come along and check out some of the awesome pieces of art that these guys have put together.

Radio controlled yachts come in all shapes, sizes with various powering systems. I'm sure you're familiar with electric radio controlled equipment. Gas powered boats obviously use car gas but with a little bit of oil mixed in for good measure. The bad boy nitro boas use nitro-methane fuel. I will go over quickly the pro's and con's of these systems.

Electric boats are usually the cheapest to buy and run (most budget rc boats are electric), although they aren't the fastest beasts at sea. But slow and steady can win the race. Be aware that some of the cheaper boats can run for a mere 10 minutes before reducing power effects performance.

Nitro powered boats are a little bit more expensive, but you're going to get more speed and extra 'play time' with this system. You sohuld expect to be looking at twenty to thirty minutes of 'play' with a ful tank. You will certainly not lose performance over time like the electric powered systems.

Gas powered systems will give you the fastest speed and the loadest noise. Most gas powered systems will allow up to forty-five minutes of addrenline filled excitement, but it's going to hurt your wallet.

It just comes down to your budget, most packages come with everything needed to get up and go (unless otherwise stated). Remember to purchase fuel, batteries and chargers if you want to take these toys camping with you.
