Wow--A Twitter Tweet Exchange. Retweet.it

This is an interesting application for Twitter. This allows you to retweet the sites of others and also allows you to buy retweets if you don't have time to manually retweet. This is a pretty awesome site for getting retweets and greater popularity for your websites. Say you have a webpage where you cannot put the retweet button of Tweetmeme on the site. Well, you can go to this service and be retweeted in this retweet exchange without needing the button.

Some folks have said that this is just another spammy traffic exchange. In fact, a guy on Mashable made that claim. Of course you can go to Tweetmeme and see that Mashable has a lot of retweets. It is a high traffic website that dominates the retweets. That is all fine and good, and certainly Mashable is great for reviewing Twitter applications among other things. But Mashable isn't the only website out there with something to say.

Besides, technically reTweetit is not a traffic exchange because the only way to view your page is to click on the url link. And you do not get credit toward your own page retweets just by clicking on the url of the site to be retweeted. That makes this service different than traffic exchanges, where you get credit for clicking on the next site which is then displayed.

And, think about it. You have no chance to compete with the big boys most of the time. If you go to tweetmeme you will see that the most popular websites are generally the mainstream media. This service levels the playing field, or at least I hope that it will. We will have to see.

You need to have 50 followers in order to use the service. That is where other Twitter applications come in to play for getting followers.

If you don't have money to spend on the Retweet it site then you earn 1/2 credit for every site you retweet. I believe the ethical thing to do here in order to properly use the site is to click on the url of the websites you are considering retweeting, check them out and then decide if you are going to retweet using the reTweetit service.

Everyone wants to be top of the mountain by getting retweeted!
