61The longing to reduce belly fat is common particularly as the number one spot on the body that is plagued by collections of cellulite, or fat, is the stomach or belly. From mothers to father, sisters to brothers, nearly every "normal" person has fought the belly fat battle and lost. The reason for the lost battle? The simple lack of knowledge how to burn off that belly fat.
Reducing belly fat is all about adopting lifestyle changes that naturally work to reduce the size of the fat cells in the tummy area. These fat cells grow larger the more fat that is stored in each cell. While we cannot reduce the number of fat cells, we can make the body use that fat for fuel and thus store smaller amounts of fat.

Instead of cutting out all of the foods you love, why not replace some of them with healthier, lower calorie alternatives. Instead of opting for the white bread, choose a whole grain bread with 100% wheat used in the baking process. A bread with a ton of fiber will also help you by keeping the hunger satiated between meals.
The second stage is weight training. Many newbies to the gym think weight training is just for those power lifters that scream and yell when they lift inhuman amounts of weight, but that is a huge misconception. The body needs to burn fuel more quickly in order to hit those fat stores for extra energy during the day. A sedentary lifestyle will keep you at one weight or even cause you to gain weight over time. Weight training can be practiced with reasonable sized weights that strengthen the muscle for those who do not want to build bulky amounts of muscle and simply want a longer, leaner body.
Weight training builds body stores of muscle and for every pound of muscle built, the metabolism will increase during resting periods. That means, the more muscle you have on those bones, the more calories you burn even when you are sitting at home watching your favorite movie. The more calories burned and the better the chance that fat will melt away from the tummy area of the body.
The final step is maintenance of the new program. Reducing belly fat is a long term goal. The body stores fat on the belly quickly and easily and is the first place the body will pack on the pounds when you leave the new program behind. One week you will be a thinner, trimmer you and the next you will see collections of fat growing back in the same spot you just lost the weight from. You need to maintain these goals in order to maintain that reduction of belly fat.
