How to Remove Comet Cursor
79
Comet Cursor is a downloadable add-on that changes how your mouse cursor looks and works. There are two different types of Comet Cursor: Fun and smart. Often times, it comes bundled with another download and most users do not realize it transmits data about your browsing habits back to its company. This is a type of spyware that many computer users do not want on their system.
Uninstalling it can be rather simple. Make sure the program is not running, you can do this by going to your Windows Task Manager and ending the process for Comet Cursor. Then, go to your Start Menu and then the Settings. Find the Control Panel button or link and find Comet Cursor or some variant of that name in the program list. Click on it and remove it from your system. Once the uninstaller runs its process, you will want to restart your computer and ensure it uninstalled properly.
Sometimes spyware programs require you to uninstall a second or third time due to hidden files tucked away in a program folder or the registry. If you find the program still active or running, try to uninstall it again. If that fails to work, install it once more, uninstall again and then delete the program folder in its entirety. This should eliminate it completely from your system for good.
However, if you find it once again installed on your computer after the initial uninstall, it may be time to see where you are downloading it from. In most cases, you will be prompted before installing it to begin with but it could be bundled in with another program without you even realizing it. If that is the case, you want to track down how it is getting on your system to avoid it being installed to begin with.
Spyware is a problem for every computer user. Getting rid of it can be a chore, but is necessary to protect your data and privacy. By following the steps above, you can avoid one type of spyware with ease.
