How to Remove WildTangent

Wild Tangent is a video software program that helps play online games. It comes bundled with software like America Online and AOL's instant messenger. It specializes in 3D and interactive gaming and supports its own set of games, such as Fate. After installation, it does transmit data about your system, such as operating speed, video and graphic drivers along with where the program was downloaded from, so it is considered a mild version of spyware.

First, make sure WildTangent is not running in the background. Go to your Windows Task Manager and close it out if it is. Once you are sure it is not running, go to your Control Panel and the Add/Remove Programs. Find WildTangent on the list and run the uninstaller. Once it completes, you will want to use a program such as HijackThis to eliminate some stray files. Anything related to WildTangent that comes up should be deleted from your system. When the program is finished, you will want to restart your system.

Finally, you will want to eliminate in traces of the program left in the registry. Go to your Start Menu, go to Run and type in regedit. From there, you want to navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and go through Software, Microsoft, Windows and CurrentVersion to find any traces to what is called wtControlPanel. Delete those entries and be careful not to delete anything else from the registry, or you will cause serious damage to your operating system.
