How to Remove Nero Scout & Search

Nero Scout – Database Technology
Nero Scout is a unique media database application that provides instant access to your media files from any Nero application, Windows Explorer, and many standard Windows applications. Many media players use a proprietary database to store metadata and the locations of media files are spread over the PC. However, Nero Scout is different. It is optimized to provide you the fastest access ever to your media files from all Nero applications. It also lets you browse your media files from Windows Explorer or virtually any application you want. You no longer have to worry about having multiple databases on your system with each storing the same information in a slightly different way. Now all you need is Nero Scout.
New applications within Nero 7 Premium Reloaded
Nero Home and Nero ShowTime now feature Nero Scout, allowing you to access various Web functions from these two dynamic multimedia applications. As well, Nero Scout displays WMP folder structures in both Nero ShowTime and Nero Home.
Main features
- Access to media files from all Nero applications
- Browse media files from Windows Explorer
If you want to get rid of Nero Scout after installing Nero 7:

Thank you so much for your input...
For Vista:
regsvr32 /u "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Nero\Lib\MediaLibraryNSE.dll"
many thanks for this article. I read several sites but none worked. thanks again
I copied and pasted the link into the run taskbar but it didn't get rid of nero scout bs for me
dito not working icon still showing up under "other" in my computer.
Just unregister the following files:NeroSearchTray.dllNeroSearchBar.dllNeroSearch.dllMediaLibraryNSE.dll
They are located in:C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ahead\Lib\
The command is regsvr32 /u
To navigate in the Command Console (cmd.exe) use:- to get to parent dir: cd ..- to go to a subdir in the current dir: cd- you might want to type the first letter(s) and then press TAB to autocomplete the name of the dir/file
Had to do all four
This unregistered Scout in Nero 8 on WinXP:
regsvr32 /u "COMMONPROGRAMFILES\Nero\Lib\MediaLibraryNSE.dl"
Make sure in the path is "Nero" but not "Ahead".

Thank you for showing us how to remove Nero Scout. I am so frustrated with products like Nero. All I wanted to do was install my Disc dive and use the lightscribe functionality, Nero 'infested' my computer with DLL's, Services, TSR's, and a slew of 'junk' software. Nero's 'tentacles' are now all through my PC. It's no wonder that PC's have so many problems with companies like Nero...
