Creating a Restaurant Layout
Your Restaurant Layout, what's best for you...
Many new restaurant owners like to design their own restaurant layout in order to give the space their own personal touch. But without any clear idea of what you should include, you might feel more confused than inspired by this kind of plan. To help you create a good restaurant layout, here are the areas you will want to consider along the way:
• Kitchen - If you're planning on cooking high quality meals, you will need to create a high quality kitchen. This kitchen should be spacious enough to accommodate any equipment that you will need to install as well as spacious enough to accommodate multiple chefs and cooks as you see fit. You will also need to have areas for food preparation, food storage, food handling, shipments, and dishwashing. This will help you have everything you need to run a restaurant all in one place. And leaving some room to expand is always a good idea if that's in your restaurant marketing plan.
• Cashier area - If your customers are going to have to pay on their way out, you will need to include a cashier area in your restaurant layout. This can be a very simple area with one or two registers that is next to the door.
• Bar - If you plan to serve alcohol in your restaurant, you might want to create a separate bar area. This will serve as a holding area for customers that want to drink before they area seated, plus it gives single customers a chance to sit by themselves without having to wait for a table. If you plan on having a lot of weekend traffic, this area should be as spacious as the space allows it to be.
• Dining area - In your restaurant layout, the more space you have in your dining room, the more customers you can seat and serve. Try to create a dining room that is spacious to use, but also not too overwhelming to the customer when they walk in. You want it to be easy to move around in so that customers feel like they're getting their own dining experience and not just sitting far too close to others.
• Staff space - Your staff will also need space in your restaurant layout. Just a simple room where they can put their coats and personal belongings as well as a time clock can be helpful.
• Office - The office needs to be a secure area in which you can store money and other important things for your restaurant. It is generally situated in the back of the layout and surrounded by solid walls for security purposes.
• Restrooms - The public restrooms in the restaurant layout design should be spacious enough to accommodate multiple people, if at all possible.
• Employee restrooms - These restrooms need not be too complicated, but they should be a separate addition away from the public's restrooms.
When you are designing your restaurant layout, keeping these areas in mind will help you create a functional and beautiful space.

Restaurant Layout is for function first...
AND keep a sharp eye on the layout of your restaurant as a marketing tool, too... you customer's experience can be a multiple of a feeling... 'Yes' or 'No'.
- I say that because I want to give my customer a "Yes" experience, always. Yes = a feeling of being a 'cherished customer' and NO is Not.
(customer feelings are 100% right)
