About the Game
Restaurant City is an application created by Playfish for Facebook. You create a virtual restaurant and hire people from your friends list to work in the restaurant. There are variety of decoration themes from which to choose for both the inside and the outside of your restaurant. You can dress your avatar and your employees as you choose. As your gourmet points increase, your restaurant expands. Ingredients are collected to improve dishes and to change your menu.
General Tips
- Your gourmet points and level increase more if the game is currently running and employees have energy.
- Currently, the maximum level is 32. Gourmet points will still continue to accrue after this point.
- If employees are at full health, they can go for approximately three hours before they will need food or rest.
- One cook can handle three to four tables efficiently.
- All stoves cook at the same rate. More expensive stoves do not increase stats.
- The closer the stoves are to the tables, the better since less travel time is needed. The best arrangement for the tables is a semi-circle around the cooks.
- An arcade or waiting chairs can be used when you have more customers than you have tables. It keeps the customers occupied long enough for a table to become open.
- As each customer leaves, you will receive an approval rating. It will be thumbs up if the customer stayed long enough to eat the meal. The rating will be thumbs down if the wait was too long, the table was dirty, or there were no available seats. If toilets were dirty you will still receive money and gourmet points, but you will not receive a thumbs up.
- 50.0 is the highest approval rating possible.
- Your customer flow increases as your approval rating goes up.
- The best ratio of employees is 5 cooks, 3 servers, and 1 cleaner. If you have fewer than 9 employees, alternating the one person between cleaning and waiting tables is a good way to maintain maximum approval rating.
- You get one free ingredient each day you log in.
- You get one free ingredient the first time you visit each of your friends.
- Each day there is a food quiz. It is multiple choice with three possible answers. If you answer correctly, you receive an ingredient.
- Three ingredients are available for purchase daily from the ingredient market located at the top right just outside of the restaurant.
- Ingredients can be traded with your friends. Unlocked ingredients may be traded immediately. You will have to request a trade for any ingredient that your friend has locked.
- The higher the level of your dish, the more gourmet points you receive.
- The price of dishes remains $2 regardless of the level of the dish.
- As the level of the dish increases, the color of the plates changes. Dishes start out as broken plates and eventually improve in quality until they reach level 10 when they become golden plates.
Bathrooms
- Toilets do not become functional until level 8.
- The bathrooms are always clean when you first log in even if they were dirty when you logged out.
- After 4 customers use a toilet it becomes dirty.
- Customers care more about quick service than they do about dirty bathrooms.
- If all of the toilets are dirty or there are no toilets available for customers who want to use one, you will not receive a thumbs up rating.
- One employee should be a janitor in order to keep the toilets clean.
- If you put a dirty toilet into the inventory and then put it back into the restaurant, it will automatically become clean.
- Sinks are not necessary and do not affect approval rating.

how does the ratings improve?
If you are asking about the new restaurant ratings, the only way to make your rating go up is to have a restaurant other people like. It is very subjective and is based on whatever other people think looks good. People seem to like restaurants with unusual arrangements or interesting decorations. I've noticed that the biggest restaurants tend to get higher ratings as well. If you aren't getting good ratings, try rearranging.
As far as the customer approval rating, it goes up as you have more happy customers. If you can arrange your restaurant to have a very short wait time, that will make your approval rating go up the quickest. Having the maximum number of employees will also help.

Hey I have one question! If I raise the level of a plate, does the prize increase too?? Or will the price will remaind at 2 dollars?
The price stays the same at $2 no matter what level the dish is. The amount of gourmet points earned does go up as the dish is leveled.
how did my rating go from a 3.0 to a 2.63? i didn't know it was possible for other people to rate at small decimal levels..
People can only give a rating of 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 stars. Your rating is the average. So if 1 person rated your restaurant at 2 stars and the next person rated it a 3 star, the average would be 2.5. If your rating is 2.5 and then someone gave you a 3 star, it would go to 2.75 and so on.
hey, whenever i log out of facebook, and i put my characters to sleep for the night, when i log back in, no matter how much time has passed they are up, i block the door so i cant go down in ratings and then i put them to sleep but they dont seem to sleep if i detour away from the main page with the game on screen, any help?
Are you saving the game before you log out? I would try to save more frequently and see if that helps. If it doesn't, you could try to contact Playfish with your problem. There is a forum on their main webpage devoted to glitches in the game.
how do u get ur windmill on the front of the restaurant to rotate the other way?
If you click on the windmill, there is a little blue button just underneath it. It has two arrows pointing in opposite directions. It changes the direction of the rotation.

My toilet and sink are set up yet my customers won't use the bathroom. Why not?
Have you made one of your employees a cleaner? Customers won't use the toilets if they are dirty. If you have bucket and brush over the toilet, it needs to be cleaned. If that doesn't solve the problem, you might check and make sure that there is nothing blocking the path to the bathroom.
How does the customers use the bathrooms
If the toilet is clean, the customer just sits on the toilet. If you have a sink, the customer will wash his or her hands after using the toilet. The main thing about the bathroom is making sure one of the employees is a cleaner so that the bathrooms won't be dirty. Customers will not give a thumbs up if the bathroom is dirty and they have a toilet bubble over their heads.

???????: if you're on level 5, then your customers will be able to use the toilets and sinks. if you are not on level 5 yet, then they will not use it.
Jessic: put your cursor/arrow on stove and you'll see a blue arrow rotating, lower your cursor on that blue arrow and click it. keep clicking till you find your desired position of the stove.

hi guys, just wondering i installed a toilet into my restaurant but the customers are not using them! Why isn't it working???
the toilets are used until you reach lvl 8, so dont worry about the toilets until u reach the level =)
I was wondering if there is a way for me to trade ingredients with other people not on my friends list. I only have 2 friends that play and they have only tried it.
I have a few questions can you please help me?
1. I see my Friends come in my restaurant is this really them paying a visit or is just the computer doing it?
2. The same Friends I see who come in do not have their restaurant on My Street. How is it they can come in my restaurant but I can't find theirs?
3. Lastly, why is that when I go in someone else's restaurant I don't see my avatar in there, like I see my Friend's avatar and name when they come into my restuarant.

If u just put the toilet back into ur inventory and put it back in the restaurant it wont be dirty. Good tip.

You can only trade ingredients with your friends. However, there are applications made specifically for adding friends for trading. One of them is Restaurant City Market. Do an application search for it. It should help you find people who want to trade ingredients.
To Jennifer:
1. No, it is not really your friends coming into the restaurant. The application randomly shows people from your friends list coming in for a visit to your restaurant.
2. They probably don’t have a restaurant. Some of the customers just appear to be your friends. This is just computerized by the app.
3. Unless your avatar is just making a random appearance like your friends do, you won’t be in their restaurant eating. However, if your friend has hired you as an employee, your avatar will be in there all the time. Employees are hired from your friends list even if that friend doesn’t use the app.
Our avatars can live very busy lives, even more than we know. My Restaurant City avatar works full time in my restaurant as well full time jobs in at least five other friends restaurants. The only part I control, though, is my restaurant.
hi, im on level ten and only have 5 employees but some ofmy friends are on the same level and have six, why? and is there any way other that increasing levels to change this

how do you change the outside appearance of your restaurant?
Once you are out on the street, click the icon on the lower left side that looks like a brick wall. There are several options available to change like doors, windows, etc.
Where is the best place to put beverage dispensers and are they necessary? If so, how many? I can't find yours in your screen shots!
The waiters have to walk over to the drink dispensers and grab the drink before they serve it just like they do the meals from the stove. So, the best place to put the dispensers is near your tables to keep the servers from having to walk very far. The beverages and dispensers aren't functional until level 15. After that they aren't 100% necessary, but your approval rating will suffer without them. Sorry about the screen shots. I haven't updated them lately.

at what level do the people start using the bathroom
Customers start using the toilets after you are at level 8.
To Shona - at level eight you can have five employees. At level 11 you get your sixth employee. Leveling the restaurant is the only way to increase the amount of employees.

what is the max amount of people you can have working, I need more people but afraid I have maxed out at 8.
I chose someone to be a chef and they just stand infront of the stove and don't go anything!
Also I put a game machine and no-one ever uses it! it was a waste of money!
Right now, the maximum number of employees is 8. Maybe with future upgrades more employees will be added.
how do i rate a restairant?
To rate a resturant, you go to a random street then enter a resturant and in the corner it will have 3 stars and a hand, just click on that and you can rate it.
Do bear in mind that you cant NOT rate your friends resturant.
whenever i decorate the outside
how do i make sure the desired decoratoin stays in front of another decoration
everytime i click the desired decoration, it moves to the front and all is fine. However, when i log out, the go back in, the decoration isin the back again and there are flowers covering it and it looks bad? idk what is happening haha

I usually always have all tables being filled all at once. Right now I just rearranged my restaurant because it got bigger and now I only have two customers coming in at a time when I have 15 tables. Why is that?
To Bethaniee - without knowing more details about your cook issues, here are a few suggestions. If your approval rating (thumbs up) is low, the extra employee may not be needed. Low approval rating equals low amounts of customers entering. If your approval rating is high, check to make sure that there is plenty of room around the stove for the cook to be able to access it. You could also try going into redecorate mode and move the stove out temporarily and then putting it back. When it resaves it might fix the problem. Otherwise, you probably are experiencing a glitch. As for the arcade, customers won't use it unless all the tables are full. If there are no tables available, the customer will go to the arcade and play it, then leave without giving a thumbs down for no tables. Arcades are only helpful if you don't have enough tables to handle your traffic flow. Hope this helps.

So a bunch like a lot of people from restaurant city ask to be my friend on face book, but i don't accept strangers, how do i keep them from asking?
Confused - make sure that you are not a fan of Playfish or Restaurant City. People go through the fans list for people to add. You will also have to make sure that you have opted out of the rating system. People can find you that way too. To do that, click on the random street button while you are outside your restaurant. There is a clipboard icon for the gourmet club. Click on it and select "no" so that no strangers can see your restaurant. Other than that, don't join any restaurant city groups. RCers aren't shy about sending out friend invites.
How do I set up a working bathroom, everyone keeps leaving because of my bathroom
Toilets begin working at level 8 or above. All you need to do is click on the chair icon to redecorate. Toilets are under the gear icon for functional. Select the one you want and place it in the restaurant. Toilets tend to look better if the bathroom is divided from the rest of the restaurant. You will probably want a few toilets to start with. You will also need to assign one of your employees to be a cleaner. The toilets will be dirty after 4 uses. When the toilets are dirty the customers won't give a thumbs up rating.
Hey i am level 25 and my garden just grew "Grapes" but none of the menu has anything that requires grapes, and noone else i have seen has them either, what are grapes for?

I am at level 15 and I left my restaurant run the whole night one night and my popularity dropped from 30 to 4. Now my popularity is so low that no one walks in. A customer would stand at a door not coming in because the resturant is dead. Is there anything I can do to fix this? If not my restaurant city game is basically over....

Your popularity will go back up if you run the game with your employees at full health for awhile. The rating goes up gradually as you have more satisfied customers. This happens to me all the time. I leave the game running and forget to check on the employees. It takes about three hours for their health to fully deplete. When that happens and customers are still coming in, the rating starts dropping quickly. If you run the restaurant and keep the employees from going below 75%, your rating should start climbing quickly.
How do I add a bathroom door? I have seen them in some of the restaurants on Gourmet Street but I'm no abl to add one.
You won't be able to add a door from the actual door section of the redecorate menu. Those doors only work on the main four walls of the restaurant. The restaurants on Gourmet Street create the illusion of a door by using items from the "decoration" section of the redecorate menu. There are dividers, pillars, walls, partitions, etc. that people use to create rooms in their restaurant and separate the bathroom by items that work as doors.
try adding 2 doors it brings many more costumers. in the number one restaurant, it has no roof.... how?

No, unfortunately, you cannot add wallpaper to the divider walls. Sorry.
Tim - Are you talking about the #1 restaurant on Gourmet Street? He actually only has a roof and no restaurant base. He most likely hacked the game or exploited a glitch in the game. A lot of the restaurants on Gourmet Street have cheats.

Do meals ever become more expensive? at the moment they are $2. As you level up on meals, do they cost more for customers?
No, the price of meals stays at $2 for all levels. However, the amount of gourmet points received for each meal does increase. It tops out at 2.8 points for a level 10 dish.
what level do you need so you can have 4 employees
At level 5 you receive the 4th employee.
I am level 13 but in my friend's account I appear as level 7... Why does that happen??
It is most likely a glitch in the game. As long as it is showing up correctly on your account, it is not too much of a problem. It may eventually fix itself or you can report it to Playfish.

How do I turn my ratings back on? I remember turning it off a couple months ago but I cant seem to figure out how to turn it back on to let other people rate me.
Ashley - as far as I know, arcades work at any level. However, customers won't go to them unless the tables are all full. So, if your approval rating (thumbs up) is low, there won't be a need for an arcade. Traffic flow increases as approval rating goes up. When the traffic at your restaurant is higher than your table space, customers will start playing the arcade.
Chris - Go to the street and click the blue "Go to Random Steet" icon. There is a clipboard icon that you click. Click yes to join the Gourmet Club and you turn on the ratings.

When I bought a second stove, because i was recieving more customers, and put 2 workers on cook mode. But only one works at a time however as I asked a while ago i tried putting the stoves into storage then bringing them out again - not difference. Please Help! My brothers going to take over me :(
You might try buying a different stove and selling the other one. Maybe if you start with a fresh one it won't have problems. It will cost more money, but it might work.
Just wanted to ask.. my restaurant rate is 4.50 star then when i log in after a week i found out the it got lowered to 4.25.. why is it?
More people have rated your restaurant and have given you less stars. Your rating is the average of all of the ratings you receive. The ratings were reset recently. Just one person giving you a lower rating would be enough to lower it that much. As other people rate your restaurant, your rating will change.
are you sure that the atomic stove doesn't cook faster than the regular stoves?
Positive. Right now all stoves cook at the same rate.
