Keep wondering what is that thing that’s been growing around
your belly since you started the new job?
Look up the internet for the term 'rid belly fat', or 'get
rid belly fat' and Google gives you dozens of different ‘celebrity’ and otherwise high-profile diet plans currently
on the market
Use these search terms (1) get rid of belly fat (2) getting rid
of belly fat, or (3) how to get rid of belly fat, and invariably you will get the
same results.
While accepting that many of these plans have become popular
if not famous, and undoubtedly, have some substance to them, I am also certain
that there are others where there is far less useful and usable information and
advice made available, which, if followed, can be costly, very costly, in more
ways than one.
Before you decide on how to lose weight, condition your mind
to the fact, that there are some basic facts about weight loss that are
completely unavoidable, irrespective of which weight loss regimen or diet plan you
decide to follow.
The first and most basic fact about weight loss hits you
where it hurts most. It is how you live.
In order to lose weight, you need to reverse the pattern
that currently exists in your life.
Currently, for some inconceivable (the same excuse for most
all over weight people) reason you are supplying your body with more energy than
it actually needs every day.
In plain English, you are eating or drinking too much.
What happens in situations like this? Your body stores that
energy AS FAT for future use. It is nothing more than the excess energy that
causes you to be overweight or obese.
Why do I have excess energy that my body stores as FAT?
Let us examine the most common reasons.
- THE WRONG TYPE OF FOODS, - and too much of it
- NOT ENOUGH EXERCISE- Exercise is the way your body burns energy. If you do not exercise enough, or do not exercise at all, it is but natural since you do not use all the energy that you are taking in every day, that your body CONVERTS IT INTO FAT.
- TOO MUCH EXERCISE - too much strenuous exercise can be counter-productive. Human muscle weighs more than fat, so if you go to the gymnasium every day to build yourself up, it is possible that, rather than losing weight, you will simply re-sculpt your shape without any noticeable loss in weight.
- SLOWER THAN NORMAL METABOLISM - Another reason some people have difficulty shifting excess weight is because they have a slower than normal metabolism.
Their bodily system does not synthesize foodstuffs as
quickly as other people, and as a result, excess energy is stored in the form
of fat.
Knowing this one fact (take in too much energy and gain
weight) should give you a clear indication of exactly what lies behind the
physical process of losing weight. It is all about reversing the situation
where you are consuming more energy than you are using.
There are hundreds of diet plans, pills and potions on the
market that all claim to be the number one product for helping you to lose
weight.
However, losing weight is a simple matter. At the moment,
you take on more energy than you need, and that energy is stored as fat.
From now on, you need to take on less energy than you need
while trying to make sure that the weight you are shedding is the fat where the
unused energy is stored, rather than other parts of your body such as your muscles.
