Are you going to be unique... or unique? You have no choice!

Women love chocolates and women love flowers. However, most women would usually choose to have something more unpredictable and special.

Let's face it, just because you play golf doesn't mean you want to receive a golf mug every year. It's quite the same for women, so forget the chocolates and flowers (and golf mugs).

More than half the men out there do the same thing, so why not do something different this time? Your partner will definitely thank you for it!

This hub will talk about combining all unique ideas together in one day, so you can make this Valentine's Day a truly memorable one.

Get ready. This will be a guideline on how to surprise your other half right from the start until the end of Valentine's Day. So before that day, make sure you lay down the beer for now and get lots of rest.

Surprise Her!

It's a given: your woman is going to expect a gift from you. It all depends on how creative you are - remember, we don't want to be predictable!

Women love a lot of things, and it would be nice to put them all together as one gift. First, get a basket and ribbon (you can get these at a $2 shop). Then go out and buy a facial moisturizer, body lotion, and foot scrub for her pampering needs (you can ask her girlfriends or the salesperson for some advice). Get her favorite treats, like maybe chocolates, candy, a pack of dried fruits, a bottle of wine, or even her favorite Doritos and dip. Take some time to think of what your partner likes and arrange them creatively in the basket. Wrap a cellophane cover (colored or not) around the basket and seal with a ribbon. All this really doesn't cost a lot, and in fact is cheaper than those "packages" sold at the shops.

If you're running out of time and can't go shopping now, you can surprise her with a personalized card. You can buy a card from the shop, but instead of just writing her name and then your name at the end, do something more with it. You can paste a picture of both of you inside and write something about it like, "Remember when we had our first date?" and so on. Writing how you feel about her with a picture attached lets her know how much you cherish your relationship.

To surprise her in the morning, you can slip a card in her organizer, which she takes with her to work everyday. Or if you happen to have more time during the day, you can deliver your gift to her workplace; she'll be absolutely thrilled about this! You may still surprise her during breakfast (you can try preparing a breakfast-in-bed for her), either way she'll be happy.

Take Her Out

While dinner at your favorite place or at a fancy restaurant is a fantastic idea, you can try something more adventurous this year. Organize a trip to the vineyards, where you can go wine tasting. This is definitely more than just your steak and wine at the restaurant! You can even have a simple, candlelit dinner by the lake while you cook up a BBQ dish and prepare a glass of wine for her, or have a picnic at the park during lunchtime.

Prepare a rug, some fruits, salads, and sandwiches for the both of you. Have a road trip to the mountaintops and go skiing. Prepare some nice CDs to play in your car, gather some treats, and drive somewhere away from the city. She'll appreciate the fact that you've put a lot of effort in organizing a getaway.

MUCH better than chocolates :-)

Stay At Home

The end of Valentine's Day should be the time to heat things up! Any woman loves alone time with her partner in the evening and not to mention a nice massage. Light some candles (scented ones are great) in your bedroom and play soft music while you give her a massage.

Or, you can even prepare a nice bubble bath for the both of you with two wine glasses and some chocolate or strawberries on the side. Add an extra touch by adding petals to the bath, et voila! You'll have her swoon over you. A true romantic!

Obviously there are more ways than one in which you can use these ideas.

Just remember!

  • Gifts don't have to be expensive!
  • Dinner doesn't have to be at the restaurant!
  • And staying at home for Valentine's doesn't have to be ordinary!
