If you are lucky and actually bought a Brandnew Router, you should have: 1. A Power Cord ( Indian type ) 2. A cable for connecting to a Computer port ( means V.35 cables) - to intract with your computer 3. A CD with all the Cisco Info in the World on it. (Driver) 4. A manual (what's a manual, you ask? Who knows? Chinese language )
And Next you go to If you have said Manuals, read the recd Cisco router pack "Getting Started Guide" Cisco is supposed to provide the cables ( V.35) you need to connect your new Router to a Computer. This cable must required while congure the router . Actually this cable look like one end Serial connection and another end 40+More Pin router end connector . Ok will Discuss about this cable structures and Pin configuration another Hubs . In this cable also called Console cable . Find the cables that plugs into this port. Plug the other end of said Cable into your Computer. Once again Check connectivity physically right ( DB-9 , RS-232, or the good old RJ-45.)
Next step is to set your computer with a " Hyper-Terminal " . You know hyper terminal ? it is one
You can also download the latest version of this by searching the Net. Luckily most of them agree on certain things which can be "set".
Anyway, set your Computer "Hyper teminal program " to the following procedure :
In this Hyper terminal before you start certain things which can be "set" to the following 1. VT100 Emulation 2. 9600 Baud 3. No Parity 4. 8 Data Bits 5. 1 Stop Bit Some of you are already Experts and know what all these do. If you don't know what these things mean, don't worry. i will teach you related things and details . actually this above details are basically choosen for routers. While you connect and configure any devices through Serial port this data is must. Because this is Used to Synchronize the two equipment through them.
OK. You have now connected your Computer to your branded new Router. Congratulations !!!! The next step is very easy. Find the Router's Power Cord .Plug the Power Cord into an appropriate (Indian type) Electrical Socket. Turn on Router! . The next step should be visual. See if the Power Light comes on ( check blinking lights?) and hearing small fan sounds from inside of the router . and Check with your hyper terminal screen . boot up configuration of the Router must be display . If it has to display Chinees languguge , Pls adjust the baud rate of the hyper teminal start up . NICE hope above config also working for all cisco routers
