A typical Russian woman seems like she knows what she's doing at all times. She constantly affirms herself. Russian women, and especially young women, are quite pushy in everyday life. For example, it's considered bad tone for a girl to come up to a man because the old-school moral standards are still quite strong. A man is usually expected to make the first step when it comes to flirting.

If you have a Russian girlfriend, she will subconsciously expect you to dote on her, to go together with her wherever she goes, to hold a door for her and hold her hand, to support her financially, in short - to be very courteous - a real gentleman. On the other hand, the woman will consider it her duty to help you push through a long queue, or win an argument with the police about your outdated visa registration, or drink more vodka in one night with you than you did during the year, and... hit you hard when you behave badly.

Even though Russian women are success oriented, just like their American counterparts, for instance, they are still incredibly romantic. They will nose-dive into a romantic affair without having a second thought simply because they feel like it. Russian women may spend the whole day wandering around with you even though they may have an important exam next day. They are ready to leave everything behind just to follow their lover. They are very demanding, but they will also give you much more in exchange.

The practicality you may find in the West should not be expected. According to some statistics only a quarter of Russian women use contraceptives. The most common way to avoid pregnancy (more than half of all cases) is abortion. The number of registered AIDS cases rises. Russian girls in general are very casual about protection when having sex, so think about it unless you want to commit to the consequences together.

A lot of people want to know the reasons behind the desire of the Russian women to marry Western men. Well, this is no longer the case. This was true a decade ago when the economy was doing very poorly and so some women viewed that as a ticket out of struggle for the basic necessities of life. Today, however, the economy and the quality of life is much better and so very few people will ever consider leaving their country. A few women hold the view that Westerners are better with women than Russian men. So if you manage to demonstrate these qualities, you can be quite successful with Russian women.
