Reduce RAM requirement for Firefox
61Tip to reduce RAM requirement for Firefox:
Generally Firefox with all its add- ons and numerous tab open at one time consume a large part of your RAM, and may hang frequently. If you regularly browse through Firefox and keep on maximizing - minimizing browser, then this is a must for you.
What this does is when you minimize Firefox instead of storing data in RAM it shifts it to Hard Drive (hard disk) and RAM use decreases rapidly, when you again maximize it , it only uses 70% of the RAM previously used …cool stuff …keep on doing this to decrease RAM space…don’t need to increase your RAM anymore thinking that Firefox need it more n more…moreover it does not slow down Firefox .
Steps:-
1. In Firefox: enter “about:config” in the location bar, right click mouse at a empty space ->go to New ->Boolean -> Type "config.trim_on_minimize" and set the value "True".
2. Check yourself:
Open Firefox -open pages (use it as you do normally) - >open Windows task manager (Ctrl+Alt+Delete) - > locate "firefox.exe" -> note down the RAM requirement -> minimize Firefox and see the RAM requirement -> keep on doing to see the result .
NOTE: If this wants to revert back to normal then just make the value "false”.
