Born in November 15, 1986, Sania Mirza is only Indian tennis player to achieve highest ranked female tennis player ever from India. She reached her career high of 27th in singles and 18 in doubles. She was born into a humble Muslim family in Mumbai. She was brought up in Hyderabad. She started playing tennis at the early age of six. In 2003, she started playing professional tennis. She is also the only female tennis player to be seeded in a grand slam. Her best year in tennis career was the year 2007!
Controversies surrounded her because of the attire she started wearing. Orthodox Islamic groups criticize the way she wore her dresses. In September 2005, an unnamed Islamic scholar give fatwa (an Islamic opinion, issued by Islamic Scholars) saying that her dress code are not in line with Islamic code of dressing for a woman. Another controversy erupted when she went to Mecca Masjid in Hyderabad for ad shoot.
