Wise Spending Saves a Lot

Saving begins with wise spending.  Nobody can tell you how to use your money wisely, what might be wise for one person might be unwise for another.  But there are certain ways that can help you get the most for your money.  In my case, here is what I do:

Practice comparison buying.

Usually if I go for a shopping for some stuff, I just don't walk into a shop or a store and buy what I want at whatever price they are asking for it. I check out the same item in another shop or store and see which is the best buy for that stuff. I do some canvassing before making a final decision.

Avoid impulse buying.

If I see a stuff that I like in a store, I don't buy it right away. I usually decide what I want first. I plan what to buy and I buy only what I really want. I always make sure the quality, design and its practicability of the stuff that I'm going to buy meets my needs. I make sure that I am getting what I pay for. When going to a supermarket for groceries, I bring a shopping list to minimize also impulse buying.

Items "On Sale" may not always be good buys.

Stores use the word "Sale" a lot because they feel it attracts more customers to their store. An item on sale may be worth the price it is selling at but it may never have worth the price the stores say it used to sell for.

Enroll to consumer education courses.

If you want, you should take advantage of consumer education courses offered in some of our schools. Courses like these teach you how to spend your money wisely. There are also some magazines or in the Internet which gives consumers comparative buying and testing information.

How can we really save money?

We must really know where our money is going. How to do this? We must keep a record. The record must be itemized to the last penny. Doing this will give us a clear picture of our spending habits. Now if we know already our expenses, we can now eliminate those that are not necessary.

Good hub, and great advice. I especially like the tip about, items "On Sale" may not always be good buys. I do agree with that statement.
