1.Southern elephant seals can dive over 4,921 feet (1,500 meters) deep and remain submerged for up to two hours.

2. Mother seals and pups find each other using a familiar call. A study in Alaska found that mothers and offspring were still able to recognize each other’s calls even after a separation of four years.
