When I tried my hand on search.yahoo.com, I was a little shock because my mind was blank. I did not know what I want to search. I have never use search.yahoo.com before. The homepage does not have many words. Just some key catalogs and an image of yahoo. From these I found nothing special compare search yahoo with the other similar webs I knew. But as I was here already I really want to find the tiny difference hiding behind the appearance of search yahoo.com

I made my mind to start on “image search”. Since I like foreign movies so I just typed my favourite actor “Will Smith” in the search box and saw what I will get. Quickly there were countless pictures show up. I picked a handsome one and wanna see a big vision of it. Surprise began from this moment! I did not merely get a big vision but also the original web where this picture came from. Tell you the truth I really never experienced this before. The original web was not in a full screen of course as I was in search.yahoo.com but settled more than half. I read some news about Will Smith on that source web. Well actually I was not expected to see all the items on the source web but I did. It was amazing. I could even change the page of the source web as well as remained in results page of seach yahoo. Well if you wanna to see the source web only. It is easy to manage. I found a symbol of close on the upper right corner of the whole page. Click it and the search.yahoo.com is closed. Finally I found I was already in the source page. This felt really fresh. It offered me many convenience because I was not just get an image but another related web. It is like I want to have an apple. But search.yahoo.com give me a extra apple tree. It is overwhelming.

Then I chose “local”. I wanted to see what is in it. Then I got two search boxes up there. One was “Businesses & Services”. Another one was “Address, City & State, or Zip ”. I thought I shoud type what and where the certain business I wanna search. So I tried in this way, I searched “museums” in “New York, NY”. Then I got the results page. On the left were all kind of museums in New York and the rating of each museum. This rating would help the searcher to get a profile of the reasult. What lovely on the right side was the poped-up small map showed me the gernal position of all the museums on the left side. This was another spurise to me. Then I chose a museun called “Children's Museum of the Arts”. I though evetything related to children must be vety funny. Then I have the further information like phone numer, address, detailed map/direction and business overview. I also got some Yahoo users’ reviews about that musume. They all spoke high about it. These were really helpful.

The last one was “shopping”. And I recalled the other serach webs I used to use. Was there any one have the same item. Negative. Then you were in yahoo shopping. The rest was just similar as other shopping webs.
