IS MY COMPUTER INFECTED WITH USB VIRUS ?
65VIRUS infected through usb drives
The following are the things you need to look for, if you think you had a vrus attack through the usb pen drives or portable hard disks or any other removable drives.
1. Oh no folder options
Typical autorun.inf file
WHY do virus disables folder options ?
Virus disables folder options because the virus is hidden and will be run automatically as you open the drive using the AUTORUN.INF file. Since both the virus and the autorun.inf are hidden, we can only see them by using the folder options menu.
2. HIDDEN FILES cannot be accessed
3. No task manager
WHY do virus disables task manager?
The task manager is the Microsoft Windows tool to view the currently running programs and processes. Even if the virus files are hidden it cannot hide themselves from task manager. So it disables itself. User can kill the process when task manager is available.
A New Folder.exe virus
4. Application that has the icon of a folder !!
The virus infected through usb pen drives has the icon of a folder (usually to make users to click on them). So if you see similar named folder be sure its not a virus!!!
