No more work in progress meetings,

say goodbye to irresponsible colleagues and demanding superiors-find out if you have what it takes tobe your own boss!

While it may sound like a dream career, being your own boss is actually something that is the total opposite, it can be a nightmare if you don't have the essential skills and qualities to man your own.

Can't stand colleauges who do nothing but gossip all day, leaving you to pick up their workload? Had enought og your superior who only knows how to delegate without actually tell you what he or sheneeds? Meeting, meeting, meetings....it is no wonder whymany people would rather set out on their own than be stuck in a corporate rut.

However, before you hand in your resignation letter and say good riddance to your nine to five, you will need to consider a few things. The most important? Whether you have what it takes to be a boss!Sure, it sounds tempting to be running the show by yourself but there's the reality - not everyone have what it takes. While it maysound like dream career, being your own boss is actually something that's total opposite; it can be a nightmare if you don't have essential skills and qualities to man your own.

Want to know if you will be able to make it? Here are some question

  1. Are you a self-starter?

  2. Do you have good business acumen?

  3. Can you handle Finacial Uncertainties?

Are you a self-starter?

Remember, you will be on your own from now on. No moreadministrative staff to help you with your claim, no secretariesto type out memos for you, even office stationeries will besomething you will have to get by your self on your own expense.Equally as important, being your own boss means having to organise, plan, manage and follow through your project all by yourself. This is specially true when you are first starting out on your own.If you make it bigger later on, only then will you be able to employ apersonal assistant to help ypu but that would incur cost, which youmight not be willing to fork out.

Did you have good business acumen?

Because you are on your own, there is no one to depend on when itcomes to attracting customers and keeping them happy. There willbe no bosses to help cover your tracks should anythinggo wrong and no subordinates to you can delegate then work to. Also, having good business skill means being able to do everything it takes to keep the businessgoing and aorganised-accounting, business planning, operation, sales, marketing and customer service. On top of that, having great networking skills- an important element businesswill able to help you succeed as your own boss. If you are the type to shy awayfrom selling yourself and your business, it is better you to stick away to the corporate world!

Can you handle finacial uncertainties?

One of the downsides to being your own boss is the unpredict ability of your cash flow, especially at the start of everything. Be prepeared to be in the lows and sometimes in debt if your business requires a large upfront in terms of overheads and requirementwhen you, start out. Also, because your cliets may change from time to time, you won'tbe making a set amount of money as you normally would when youare an employee of a company. If you have many loans as well asfinacial responsiblilities, consider tje idea of being your own boss manytimes over. In your situation, having some form of finacialstablility is more important than being in the yo-yo every month.
