The Senseo coffee maker is designed by the Dutch electronics company, Philips. The coffee makers use single serving coffee pods specifically developed for the Senseo machines by the Dutch coffee roasting firm of Douwe Egberts. This does away with the need to clean up messy coffee grounds. The machines are very easy to use. You just fill the water reservoir, insert a coffee pod, and push a button. Your perfectly brewed cup of gourmet coffee is ready within 30 seconds.

The Philips Senseo coffee machines have a very distinct modern design. They are shaped more like a cylinder or cannister than a regular coffee maker. The machines are also very easy to clean. All of the detachable parts are dishwasher safe. The coffee makers also feature an automatic shut off feature when the machine has not been in use for more than an hour.

The coffee machines use mild water pressure where water is filtered through a specially designed spray head and down through the coffee pod which results in an optimal coffee filtering process with the right balance of coffee and water.

Philips Senseo features three different coffee makers: the Senseo Coffee Machine HD 7810/65, Senseo Deluxe Single Serve Gourmet Coffee Maker HD 7820/65, and the Senseo Supreme Single Serve Gourmet Coffee Maker HD 7832/55.

The orginal Senseo HD 7810/65 coffee maker delivers a perfectly brewed single or two cups of coffee in less than one minute with its powerful 1450 watt boiler. This is the perfect coffee maker for people who want to brew one cup of coffee at a time. You just fill up the water reservoir, insert a coffee pod into the coffee pod holder and push the on button. You will have a perfectly brewed cup of coffee in less than a minute without any messy coffee grounds to deal with.

Consumers have responded positively to the machine, noting the speed of the coffee making process, the easy clean up, and the ability to brew different coffee flavors or individual servings in a short amount of time.

There are a few objections. The HD7810 does not have room to fit a large cup of coffee under the spout and only brews 4 ounces of coffee. Also, some people do not care for the flavor of the coffee. However, with the wide variety of coffee pods available this may be more a matter of individual taste. Most people have loved the taste of the coffee. The Senseo HD 7810 is also probably not the best choice for heavy coffee drinkers who drink large amounts of coffee throughout the day. The strength of this machine is brewing great tasting coffee one or two cups at a time.

The Senseo Deluxe offers all the great features of the original HD7810 with a few added extra features. With the HD 7820/65 you can not only brew gourmet coffee, but also cappuccino and tea. Senseo also added an adjustable spout to accomodate larger coffee cups under the spout as well as a larger, 32 ounce, water reservoir.

For those who want to be able to use larger coffee cups or brew more coffee before needing to add water to the water reservoir, the Senseo Deluxe is a good choice.

The Senseo Supreme has all the features of the Senseo Deluxe along with a couple extras.  The Supreme features a LCD display which shows the water level of the reservoir as well as a coffee volume selection which allows you to choose whether you want a 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, or 10-ounce cup of coffee.
