Join military to serve your motherland:

The country of US is divided into 50 states and each state has its own national guard. The national guard of a state is divided into two classes. One is the army national guard and the other is the air national guard.

The national guard of a state has twofold duties. The basic duty of is to protect the country during emergency or war. Their second duty is to protect its citizens at times of disaster.

The National Guard consists of part time employees. They are expected to serve only for one weekend in a month. They are trained annually but only for two weeks. Such people are full civilians as well as military service men. They enjoy all the benefits of a military career which includes waiver of school and college fee. They are also allowed to enhance their career skills. Apart from this they get a regular salary.

A career in the army national guard will give you the unique combination of being a civilian as well as enjoy monetary benefits. This job will surely do you great pride as you will be responsible to protect your beloved motherland.

Inspite of the merits, parents feel that it is very difficult to live with guns. And this is the reason that they disdain their children joining the military. But still many people join the military for unusual but puzzling reasons. The reasons are as follows:-

1. Finance:

Since finance is very important to have a dream life, most people join military services. They want to reap the benefits of army life. With the noteworthy financial gains in a military career, who can withstand such offer?

2. To stay away from parents:

Even though the reason is funny, but it is true. Some of the high school boys say that they want to be away from their strict parents. This is the reason that they want to join the military. Whatever the reason, serving ones’ mother country is a noble deed, indeed!

3. To test courage:

Sort of a venturous game is the decision to join the military. Some are of the opinion that people will think great of men who join the military. It gives them a chance to prove that they are ready to face Saddam or Bin Laden.

4. Good citizen:

A few are of the opinion that joining a military are the signs of good citizens. This way you can pay tribute to your mother country for what it has given you.

5. To oppose Al Qaeda and face for Osama Bin Laden:

A recent survey conducted revealed that out of 100 people interviewed 35% gave the above reason to join the military. This may be funny but it is supposed to be one of the main reasons.

Most of the military young men and women recruits belong to middle class. Only a handful of people from the poor as well as the wealthy family join the military. People joining the military are generally more qualified than the general public. Around 75.6% of the military recruits are whites. The least represented area in the military is the urban area.

The US Armed forces have active duty holders and reservists. Active forces are full time service providers whereas reservists may be full timers or part time service providers. Reserve units maintain their civilian jobs and their military skills also.

Today’s military is quite unlike those of our fathers’, grandfathers’ and even those before them. It still implies a good deal of hard work, commitment and pride. But now the members of military have more wide options than those of the past years. These admit progresses in such areas as education, private-sector employment and the most important of all to permit women to hold fighting postures.

Housing has also progressed to a large extent. The barrack type of houses prevalent in the olden days has been replaced by fully modernized accommodations. These houses also have sports arenas and also include other recreational options. They also include family support in the field of education, medicine and more.
