Seven Things You Need to do to Rocket Your First Email Marketing Campaign to Success

When you are sending out your first Email marketing newsletter, you are probably going to be a bit nervous. Before you send something out to hundreds of your customers, you are going to want to make sure that you have done the following seven things.

1. Do research on Email marketing before even starting your campaign. Email marketing works for a lot of businesses that are selling a product or service, and it's going to keep your customers, new and old, up to date on what's going on with your company. If you are unsure about it, do a bit of research to answer any questions you might have.

2. Make a list of things you can offer your Email marketing customers. If you want to succeed, you are going to have to offer your Email marketing customers something special with each and every Email that you send. This doesn't necessarily mean that you have to give them a discount, but unless you are going to have a really good and informative newsletter, you are going to need something that will get your customers to read the pitch.

3. While you are thinking of reasons why your customers would want to read your newsletters, you are also going to have to think about your profits. For example, if your profit margin for the majority of your products is only 15%, and you send them coupons for 10% off their next order with every newsletter, you are going to find that Email marketing isn't actually going to bring in a lot of good business. Sure, you will be selling more things, but you will be making less money, which is not necessarily a trade off you want to make. You may just want to change that 10% off of everything to 10% off of a special product in order to boost sales.

4. Hire a writer. Unless you are good with words, you might want to consider hiring a writer to write your Email newsletters. A good writer is going to be able to catch the mood that you want, give you an entertaining newsletter and give you professional results.

5. If you don't hire a professional writer, have someone to proofread your own work. You have spent a lot of time and money on your website, making sure that it was polished and proofread, you are going to want to do the same with your Email marketing. These Email marketing newsletters are going to reflect on your business and if there are spelling errors, grammar errors or other mistakes, you are going to lose a lot of respect.

6. Keep your frequency down. You are probably only going to send one, maybe two Email marketing newsletters a month. If you start to send too many, people are just going to get annoyed and send your letters directly to their junk box. Reminding your customers that you are out there is different from badgering them and sending them a ton of Email.

Send your Email and track the results. When you send the Email, you are going to want to track your results and see how much it helped your business. If it didn't help too much, you are going to want to tweak your newsletter and see what other strategies you can use or if there is another special that you can offer instead.
