iTunes is one of the most popular software programs to organize, share and buy music. It can be used on both Windows and Mac operating systems. While it can only sync songs, albums and other media to iPods and iTouch's at the moment, it is an effective way to share music from one source to another.

The software allows you to share music effectively in three primary ways: From the iTunes Music Store to your computer, from iTunes itself to CD or from iTunes itself to your iPod. Depending on how you want to listen to your music, one of these ways will no doubt be the way you go to share music. The iTunes Music Store allows you to purchase music, download them to your computer and then either burn them to CD or transfer them to your iPod. The only downfall to downloading music from iTunes is that you cannot download them again if something were to happen, such as reformatting a hard drive or losing access to the account. You can also only burn or transfer the music a certain number of times before you can longer share it around again.

After downloading the music to your system, you can choose to transfer it to CD or your iPod. You can also transfer it to your iTouch. Burning a CD takes place right through the iTunes program; it will burn the music, in the right order along with any album artwork to the CD. You can then listen to it in a car stereo or at home, but you will not be able to burn additional copies beyond a certain point. You can also transfer this music to your iPod or iTouch like you would transfer music you would import yourself. You can transfer it to multiple devices, but again, only for a certain number of times before you will not be able to do it anymore.

While this may not be the conventional way to share music between programs, it is the legal way to do so. Keep in mind that iTunes does encode its downloads to ensure they are not being illegally copied. Legal filesharing is the only responsible way to go about sharing music in this day and age. iTunes allows you to do just that.
